During Google I/O 2024, Google announced that it would bring a safer and faster way for developers to test their apps remotely on Samsung phones. Now, the company has started early access to remote Android app testing on Samsung, OPPO, and Xiaomi smartphones.
Developers can remotely test their apps on Samsung phones via Google's Android Device Streaming
Google has started offering early access to Android Device Streaming, a way to securely and remotely access Android phones for testing apps and games before they are released on the Play Store. These phones are from Google, OPPO, Samsung, and Xiaomi. Earlier, the tool only features phones from Google itself. This tool is powered by OmniLab.
Samsung devices available in Android Device Streaming include the Galaxy S24 Ultra, Galaxy Tab S9, and the Galaxy Tab S9+.
The tool also allows developers to test their apps on foldable Galaxy phones. Developers can test apps when the phone is folded, unfolded, or rotated. Once developers have completed their testing, Google promises to wipe all the data and perform a factory reset of the device. Then, that device will be offered to other developers. All this testing happens directly within Android Studio, the official environment for developing Android apps and games.
Soon, Google plans to add more physical devices to Android Studio. To join the Early Access Program (EAP), developers must sign up here. Then, Google will notify those developers if their entry has been accepted for the EAP.
