Nitish Sharma has been appointed as the Business Head for Sun Neo, Sun TV Network’s Hindi General Entertainment Channel (GEC), according to media reports. Sharma will report to Aparna Bhosle, Head of HGEC/RHSM Channels and Strategic Alliances.
Sharma brings a wealth of experience from his previous role at Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd (ZEEL), where he served as Business Head and Chief Channel Officer for Zee Anmol and Big Magic. He began his tenure at ZEEL in 2021, initially overseeing Big Magic as Business Head before expanding his responsibilities.
Prior to ZEEL, Sharma was with Sony Pictures Networks India (SPNI) from June 2014. At SPNI, he held several key roles, starting as Assistant Vice President & Head of Consumer Strategy & Insights, Promo Strategy, and Channel Operations for Sony PAL. His final position at SPNI was Head of Consumer Insights, Programming, and Promo Strategy for the SAB, PAL, and Movies clusters.
Sharma’s career also includes a role as Senior Manager of Consumer Insights & Strategy at Star Sports from July 2012 to June 2014, where he worked closely with major sports bodies to drive sports growth, as well as with the programming team to drive non-live programming on sports channels. Apart from this, he undertook detailed consumer research studies to understand the global sports adoption lifecycle and was a core member of the team that conceptualized and executed the Pro-Kabaddi League.
His professional journey also includes a stint at the Aditya Birla Group, where he worked from June 2006 to July 2010 as Corporate Strategy and Business Development Manager. During his time there, Sharma collaborated closely with Kumar Mangalam Birla and the CEOs of various business units.
