Bramson: Best Buddies’ Friendship Walk an amazing experience

Amongst my many enjoyable community endeavors, I recently had the opportunity to assist at the Best Buddies’ first Friendship Walk in Basalt. What an amazing experience.
Best Buddies brought disability partners from all over the valley together to celebrate all abilities. I hadn’t realized how many families from Parachute to Aspen experience social isolation, who are living with intellectual developmental disabilities.
The day brought music, speeches, a fun trek around downtown, games, prizes, and pure joy to several hundred attendees, who I was fortunate enough to greet at registration.
I also served again in the same role at their recent “Champion of the Year” Gala, at the Hotel Jerome, which was another wonderful event, where I saw many of the same friends from the Friendship Walk. What an impact.
We are incredibly fortunate to have so many excellent nonprofits in our area, and having just discovered Best Buddies, I encourage folks who have time, to sign up for the Best Buddies Adult Friendship Program called “Citizens in Friendship.” Like me, you’ll find your involvement rewarding and inspiring.
