Vadodara, August 3: A horrific five-vehicle collision near Jaroad village on the Vadodara-Halol road on Saturday morning claimed the lives of a couple and injured three others. The incident caused a massive traffic jam of approximately 4 kilometers on the main road. The Halol-Vadodara toll road was temporarily closed.
According to reports, the accident occurred near the Jaroad tri-junction on the Vadodara-Halol road. Vehicles collided one after the other, resulting in a pile-up involving five vehicles. A car was completely crushed in the accident. The occupants of the car, Naresh Dodiya (35) and his wife Dharmishtaben, both residents of Jaroad village, died on the spot. Naresh was crossing the road when a heavy-duty truck and a water tanker collided. The impact caused both trucks to overturn, trapping two cars and an auto-rickshaw underneath.
Following the incident, the Halol-Vadodara toll road was closed, leading to a traffic jam of approximately 4 kilometers. Upon receiving information about the accident, Vadodara Fire and Emergency team along with police officials rushed to the spot. The Inspector of Jaroad Police Station confirmed that two people died on the spot, while three others were injured and taken to the CHC Center, Jaroad. Six people in another car managed to escape uninjured. However, the couple in the car that was crossing the road succumbed to their injuries.
