Nissanka flicks and it goes in the air. Siraj, at deep fine leg, dives in front but isn’t able to grab the ball! Could be called a drop, the ball was in his hand but couldn’t get hold of it. 

Siraj again. Both batters haven’t been able to time the ball well so far. Credit to both Indian pacers to consistently hit the length. Jinxed. This time Nissanka punches the ball past point for four! Beaten! Wide of the crease, angling in, and holds the line. Nissanka goes for a drive but it beats his inside edge! 

Arshdeep. He continues with the similar tactics and Mendis doesn’t have answers right now. Meanwhile, groundsmen have lined up near the boundary as the weather is gearing up for some rain. Nissanka closes the over with a beautiful cover drive for four. 

Siraj. He’s using the crease very well here. First ball was wide of the crease and the next closer to the stumps. All this while moving the ball away from the right hander. Nissanka defends and Mendis wanted to steal a quick single there, sent back halfway through the pitch. Had Shubman Gill hit the stumps, he was a goner. A half-hearted LBW appeal against Nissanka. Ball going down the leg. 

Arshdeep. Nissanka goes for a drive on the up but is beaten! Just past the outside edge. Moving the ball into the right hander, Arshdeep. Plenty of plays and misses so far. Both pacers have been consistently challenging the outside edge. On the pads and Nissanka picks it over square leg for four. Nissanka now tries to go over mid off. Doesn’t time it well but just over the fielder. 

Siraj again. OUT! Fernando tries to flick towards the leg side but gets a thick outside edge that flies over to the deep third. Easy catch and Sri Lanka loses an early wicket. 

Kusal Mendis in at number three. A JAFFA to begin with! On the length and holds its line. Mendis gets his bat away at the right time. Siraj has been brilliant so far. Maiden wicket. 

Arshdeep Singh from the other end. Beats Avishka Fernando’s outside edge! Very little movement though, but enough to trouble the right hander. India has a simple plan: attack the stumps and let the new ball do the talking. 

Mohammed Siraj with the new ball. Attacking the stumps straightaway! Beats Pathum Nissanka’s outside edge on the second ball. He was not in the line of the ball at all. Outswinger this time, wide outside off and Nissanka cuts past extra cover for four! Nice way to put runs on the board.
