With profound sadness, we share the passing of Bill Sharp, a beloved father, grandfather, and friend. In his final days, he was surrounded by his loving family and close friends, as a sudden illness took him just two days before his 95th birthday.

In 1960, he married Pat and settled in Valley Forge, PA, before making Aspen their permanent home in 1983. They cultivated a profound love for the mountains, constructing their house from the ground up and spending the next 40 years designing, planting, and nurturing their gardens. They traveled the world, immersing themselves in every way and appreciating each destination’s beauty, culture, and cuisine. They were an elegant and adoring couple who shared a love and appreciation of the arts.

The word that best captures Bill’s essence is passionate. Just two days before falling ill, he played nine holes of golf in Aspen, an accomplished golfer who shot three hole-in-ones. He skied well into his eighties, always striving for the coveted 100-day pin. His breathtaking garden was a labor of love shared with his dear friend and gardener, José. A dedicated Rotarian and community member, Bill was supportive of the fight to cure his grandson’s disease.

Bill was also a cherished friend to many. His deep-rooted connections in Aspen and Palm Desert truly defined him. The atmosphere brightened when he walked into a room, and friends in golf carts would often pause to greet him, frequently sharing a drink. Everyone knew Bill Sharp. Words like inspiring, vibrant, special, a gentleman are repeatedly used when describing Bill. He will be deeply missed and forever loved. We are immensely grateful for the countless joyful moments we shared with him.

Bill is survived by his loving sons, Bob and Brian, their spouses, Carole and Krista, and his grandsons, lan and Ty. He also leaves behind a circle of relatives and close friends who will forever treasure his memory.
