Google has started replacing Google Assistant with Gemini on Android devices. However, it is missing some features found on Google Assistant. The company is bringing those missing features and adding more to Gemini, so it is about to get much more useful on your Galaxy phone. Gemini is getting integration with Calendar, Keep, Spotify, and Tasks.

Google Gemini to get Google Calendar, Google Keep, Spotify, and Google Tasks extensions

According to a new report from Android Authority, Gemini will soon get extensions for Google Calendar, Google Keep, Spotify, and Google Tasks. With Google Calendar integration, you can add calendar entries through voice commands. You can also view upcoming calendar events and edit existing entries. You can also ask Gemini about your calendar entries on a particular day.

With the help of the Google Keep integration, you can add notes and lists through voice commands. You can also add information to notes and add/remove entries from existing lists. With Gemini's Google Tasks integration, you can ask it to create new tasks, complete with task title, date, and title. You can ask Gemini about existing tasks and show their due dates.

Spotify could also soon get an extension for Google Gemini. By examining the code of the Google app (version 15.30.27.29), Android Authority found that you could ask Spotify to play any music track or a podcast. Once you make a request (voice or typed text), Gemini opens the Spotify app and starts playing the matching track. It can also start music playback in the background.

Gemini can already play music via YouTube Music, and the addition of Spotify extension will bring more choice to Android smartphone and tablet users like you. There is a Phone extension that lets you call your contacts using voice commands. The Google Home extension allows you to control compatible smart home devices.

The Utilities extension can do simple tasks like opening apps or changing the phone's settings. For example, you could ask it to open an app on your Galaxy phone or tablet, capture a photo, adjust the volume, turn on dark mode, or restart the phone. A lot more extensions could be coming to Gemini in the future.

The story continues after our video below.

Gemini could soon be getting all the extensions mentioned above to become the best AI-powered digital voice assistant. Since it utilizes large language models (LLMs), it now understands natural language more clearly. It can also remember past conversations, so it understands context of what you say.

Samsung has also revealed that it will launch an improved version of Bixby powered by LLMs. However, it remains to be seen if it gets integration for as many services as Gemini is about to get.
