Bhopal, July 31 (Udaipur Kiran): The ongoing heavy rains in Madhya Pradesh have drenched the entire state. A strong rain system is developing from today (Wednesday) and is expected to last for the next four days. Heavy rainfall is anticipated in 22 districts of the eastern regions, including Jabalpur, Rewa, Sagar, and Shahdol divisions. In the western parts, such as Bhopal, Indore, Ujjain, Narmadapuram, and Gwalior-Chambal, rainfall will vary from light to heavy.
The Meteorological Department has reported two active troughs and two cyclonic circulations. The system is expected to strengthen from August 1, with a significant impact in the eastern regions. The heavy rain system is likely to persist on August 2 and 3. It is noteworthy that the monsoon arrived in the state on June 21, and in the past 39 days, over half of the normal rainfall, 18.8 inches (50.40%), has been recorded. Seoni has received the highest rainfall at 31.29 inches, while Rewa has yet to reach 8 inches.
The strong rain system forming from July 31 is expected to bring substantial rainfall to Rewa, Sagar, and Shahdol divisions, potentially increasing the rainfall figures. Overall, the state has experienced 9% more rainfall than usual, with the eastern region recording 9% and the western region 16% more rainfall.
