Paris Olympics 2024 Live Updates Day 5: Manika Batra vs Miu Hirano next; Deepika Kumari reaches round of 16; Lovlina moves to QF

Phew.. Manika clinches a thrilling third game! Manika started the game strong and raced to a 7-2 lead before some unforce errors allowed the Japanese to claw back to 9-9, leaving Manika crushed. But Manika recovered from three game points, before winning the game 14-12.

Miu’s attacking play proves too strong once again for Manika. Manika ran her close with her defensive game, inviting unforced errors from the Japanese to take the scores level at 9-9 at one point but it wasn’t enough. Miu takes second game 11-9.

Not the best start for Manika in the round of 16 clash. The Japanese eighth seed races to a 11-6 opening game win. Manika was 5-6 at one point before Miu powered through. Manika will have to cut down on the unforced errors as the second game gets underway.

Paris 2024: Kusale ended his tally of 60 shots with 590 points with 38 inner 10s which enough to get him a place inside the top eight shooters.

Kusale - 98, 97 = 195 (590-38x) [7th]

Tomar - 95, 98 = 193 (589-33x) [11th]

Swapnil Kusale qualifies for the final.

France’s Cassandre Beaugrand won the women’s triathlon at the Paris Olympics.

Beaugrand, 27, triumphed after a remarkable bunched finish, opening up a gap in the late stages of the run from Switzerland’s Julie Derron who won silver and Britain’s Beth Potter, who won bronze.
