Direct bookings for hotels in Spain surged by an impressive 18% during the summer of 2024, outpacing other booking channels, according to data from Mirai, a leading provider of hotel technology and distribution solutions.

Hoteliers’ renewed focus on boosting profitability is credited for this significant growth.

Globally, Mirai reported an 11% increase in direct hotel room night sales, with Spain leading the charge at 12%. Average Daily Rates (ADR) in Spain also climbed by approximately 7%.

Key inbound markets, including the UK (+12%), US (+18%), and Germany (+14%), contributed significantly to Spain’s booking surge.

“This is a landmark year for Spain’s tourism sector, particularly for direct hotel bookings,” said Javier Delgado Muerza, CEO EMEA at Mirai.

“Hoteliers’ dedication, combined with our technology, has driven this remarkable growth.”

To sustain this positive momentum, Mirai advises hoteliers to prioritize a clean distribution strategy, data-driven decision-making, and strategic digital marketing investments.

By offering the best rates on their websites and effectively reaching target audiences, hotels can continue to thrive in the competitive landscape.
