Borluit Productions, a film production company based in Guwahati, announced the release of their Assamese short film ‘Rong (The Colour)’ on August 14. The short film has made waves in the international film circuit, securing 11 official selections and winning 8 awards at top film festivals worldwide.
Directed and edited by Nekib Ahmed, with a story and screenplay by Anjan Kaushik Sharma, ‘Rong (The Colour)’ delves into profound themes and showcases the true color of our country India.

The film stars an ensemble cast including Ankur Baidya, Imran Hussain, Pritam Jyoti Das, Manisha Kashyap, Pinku Baishya, Tikendrajit Hazarika, Mousum Bora, Rekhamoni Saikia, Lakhipriya Saikia, Mahesh Kalita, Pallab Basumatary, and Akashdeep Das. With cinematography by Manabjyoti Kalita, assisted by Hiranya Das, produced by Jekib Ahmed, and a background score by Debajit Brahma, the film is set to captivate audiences worldwide.
‘Rong (The Colour)’ has been recognized for its storytelling, direction, and cinematic excellence, receiving accolades from film festivals. It won the Best Short Film at the Triloka International Filmfare Awards 2023, Special Jury Award at the Kollywood International Film Festival 2023, winner at the 4th Indian International Short Film Festival Awards 2024, Special Jury Award at the Rohip International Film Festival 2024, and Best Indian Short Film at Indo Dubai International Film Festival 2024.
Besides these, the short also got Honorable Mentions at the Indo French International Film Festival 2023 and the Greece International Film Festival 2024. It was also among the Top 100 Shorts at the Dada Saheb Phalke International Film Festival 2024.
The short film also received official selections at the 12th Mumbai Shorts International Film Festival 2023, the 3rd Himachal Short Film Festival 2024, Northeast International Documentary and Film Festival 2023.

After a successful festival stint across the world, ‘Rong (The Colour)’ will be available for public viewing starting August 14.
