In 2024, Latvia’s national airline, airBaltic, celebrated the arrival of its 48th Airbus A220-300 aircraft, registered as YL-ABV, at its Riga base. This delivery marks the second A220-300 received by airBaltic in 2024, part of their total order of 50 aircraft. In November 2023, airBaltic further solidified its commitment to fleet expansion by announcing a firm purchase agreement for an additional 30 Airbus A220-300 jets, with options for 20 more.

To date, airBaltic has transported over 16,276,000 passengers using the Airbus A220-300. These aircraft have completed more than 178,000 flights, accumulating 392,000 block hours. Since May 2020, airBaltic has streamlined its operations by exclusively flying the Airbus A220-300, enhancing efficiency and simplifying fleet management.

The Airbus A220-300 has surpassed expectations, offering superior performance, fuel efficiency, and comfort. Passengers benefit from wider seats, larger windows, increased overhead luggage space, and improved lavatories. The aircraft is also notably quieter, with a noise footprint half that of older models. Additionally, it stands out as the world’s most efficient commercial aircraft, boasting transparent life-cycle environmental impact reports and significantly reducing CO2 and NOX emissions by 25% and 50%, respectively, compared to previous generation aircraft and industry standards.
