Reading Time: < 1 minuteChina Eastern Airlines is set to commence direct flights between Shanghai and Venice, Italy, starting on September 26.
The flights, scheduled for Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, will depart from Shanghai Pudong International Airport and arrive at Venice’s Marco Polo International Airport, with an estimated travel time of approximately 13 hours.
In May, China eliminated visa requirements for Italian travelers, allowing them to visit without a visa until December 31, 2025. Holders of ordinary passports from Italy can now enjoy visa-free entry into China for stays of up to 15 days.
Tickets for the new route are now available on China Eastern’s official website and mobile app.
Venice, located in northeastern Italy, serves as both an economic hub and a major tourist destination in the country. The city holds special significance for Chinese visitors as the birthplace of Marco Polo, the renowned Italian merchant and explorer who connected China with Europe centuries ago.
The introduction of this direct flight will greatly enhance travel convenience between Shanghai and Venice, allowing tourists from both cities to explore new destinations or use the service for seamless transit.
