Between 2024 and 2029, Solomon Islands’ Gross Domestic Product (GDP) at current prices is predicted to rise steadily, achieving an increase of $0.6 billion, or 35.09 percent. By 2029, after eight years of consistent growth, the GDP is expected to peak at $2.32 billion.
In 2024, the GDP of the Solomon Islands is set to expand by 4.1 percent, following a 3.5 percent growth in 2023, which marks an 0.8 percent improvement from the earlier forecast of 2.7 percent.
In the first quarter of 2024, Australian visitors formed the largest contingent, accounting for 30.5 percent of all tourist arrivals to Solomon Islands, although this represented a significant 51.4 percent drop to 1,494 from the previous quarter’s total of 3,074. Fijians were the second largest group, making up 10.2 percent, followed closely by visitors from Papua New Guinea at 9.5 percent. Other significant visitor groups included tourists from other Asian countries (9.0%), New Zealand (7.2%), China (7.0%), the United States (6.7%), Vanuatu (5.8%), other Pacific countries (4.7%), European countries (3.1%), Japan (2.0%), the United Kingdom (1.5%), and other countries (1.4%).
March saw the highest visitor numbers in the quarter, with 2,042 arrivals, while February and January followed with 1,543 and 1,318 visitors, respectively.
