Mangaluru International Airport is gearing up for a significant mid-summer expansion in its flight schedule, enhancing connectivity with the Middle East for local travelers.
This increase will see the number of weekly flights rise from 276 to 344, marking a 25% growth starting August 9.
Air India Express introduced a weekly flight to Jeddah on April 3 at the beginning of the summer schedule. Starting July 22, 2024, the airline will increase its flights to Abu Dhabi from four times a week to daily service. The new flight, IX 819, will depart for Abu Dhabi at 8:15 PM, with the return flight IX 820 arriving at 5:20 AM.
This additional service will operate on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Air India Express serves multiple destinations, including Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Dubai, Dammam, Doha, Jeddah, Kuwait, and Muscat.
IndiGo will also start a daily flight to Abu Dhabi on August 9, 2024. Previously, IndiGo’s only international destination from Mangaluru was Dubai, with four weekly flights. The new flight, 6E 1443, will arrive from Abu Dhabi at 4:00 PM and depart back as 6E 1442 at 9:40 PM, increasing weekly flights to Abu Dhabi from four to 14.
On the domestic front, Air India Express will launch a new service to Bengaluru from July 22. Flight IX 1789 will arrive in Mangaluru at 6:45 PM on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and depart as flight IX 1780 at 7:05 AM on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
Additionally, from July 16, Air India Express introduced a daily flight to Mumbai. Flight IX 1295 departs Mumbai at 12:30 PM, arriving in Mangaluru at 2:05 PM, and the return flight IX 1296 departs Mangaluru at 2:45 PM, reaching Mumbai at 4:25 PM. This flight was previously operated as AI 689/AI 690 until July 15.
The expansion in both international and domestic flights will elevate the weekly flight movements at Mangaluru International Airport from 276 to 344, reflecting a 25% increase starting August 9.
