David W. Mahan, 70, of Theodosia, was airlifted by helicopter ambulance to Cox Hospital in Springfield with serious injuries in a two vehicle crash on Highway 160, about four miles west of Theodosia July 13.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s online crash report, Mahan was traveling eastbound in a 1970 Chevrolet pickup around 5:15 p.m. that Saturday evening when an oncoming 1994 Chevrolet pickup driven by 47-year-old Justin Dendinger of Theodosia crossed the centerline and hit Mahan’s truck.
Both vehicles were total losses and were towed from the scene by Sam’s Wrecker Service in Theodosia, as requested by an officer.
Dendinger was wearing a seatbelt and was insured. The report says it’s unknown if Mahan was wearing a seatbelt or was insured, likely due to his inability to converse with officers because of his significant injuries.
The crash was investigated by MSHP Tpr. K. L. Hogan with assistance by MSgt. C. A. Hogue.
