With the traffic surge in FY2024 so far, CSMIA demonstrates leadership in aviation excellence, reflecting travelers’ confidence in the airports’ world-class facilities and services.
Witnessing a month-on-month momentum, the quarter commenced with 4.3 million passengers in April, marking a strong start. Passenger traffic rose in May, to 4.7 million, with a month-on-month increase of 7.9%. In June, CSMIA welcomed 4.39 million passengers, highlighting sustained demand for air travel from Mumbai.
CSMIA saw a total of 59,775 domestic ATMs and 21,519 international ATMs, recording a surge of over 4% compared to Q1 of FY2023-24, reinforcing its status as a cornerstone of the aviation industry. During Q1 FY 2024, May 2024 emerged as the busiest month with 4.7 million total passengers travelling. 18th May 2024 date observed the highest single-day traffic of 163,166 passengers.
When compared with Q1 of FY2023-24, CSMIA witnessed an increase of over 7% in the overall passenger traffic. Thus, highlighting the ever-increasing demand for air travel in Mumbai and reflecting the importance of the City for passengers.
Delhi, Bangalore, and Hyderabad have notably emerged as the top three domestic destinations for CSMIA with over 6.9 million passengers traveling through the airport. While Dubai, Singapore, and London have continued to hold their status as the top three preferred international destinations, Dubai maintains it as the preferred international destination from CSMIA this quarter, with over 0.61 million passengers traveling to the city.
The passenger traffic from the top five international destinations surpassed 1.5 million. Similarly, the passenger traffic from the top three domestic destinations is 3.4 million.
IndiGo, Air India, and Vistara emerged as the top airlines with the highest market share in the domestic as well as the international sector. IndiGo with more than 50% share among top airlines leads the domestic market, handling a total of 4.99 million passengers in the recent quarter.
Additionally, the Middle East, Asia Pacific, and European regions saw the maximum traffic to/ from CSMIA. The Middle Eastern region recorded 49% of the passenger traffic share during April 2024 and 47% passenger traffic share during May and June 2024.
The passenger traffic figures and growth observed at CSMIA during the recent quarter of FY2024-25 align with industry trends, reaffirming the Airport’s commitment to providing global connectivity, a seamless transfer experience, and world-class service standards.
