The 2025 Chevrolet Blazer EV is an electric equivalent of the automaker’s gas-powered Blazer midsize SUV, though the two share little other than a name. Compare it to the Ford Mustang Mach-E, Tesla Model Y, and Kia EV6.
Is the 2025 Chevrolet Blazer EV a good SUV?
Its unique styling, good tech, and generally practical design are appealing. At least for now, the Blazer EV’s lineup is a bit muddy and, frankly, is missing some promised models. What's new for the 2025 Chevrolet Blazer EV?
At least as of summer 2024, not much. But that may change, since we’ve been promised a Blazer SS and a front-wheel-drive version.
Introduced last year, the Blazer EV takes an historic name into a new era with its Camaro-ish styling and muscle car proportions. It can be pretty darn quick, at least in the versions we’ve driven so far. There’s a hint of SUV to its style, though, with black fender flares and lower cladding. Expect that to go color-matched in the upcoming Blazer EV SS.
The Blazer EV’s interior is busy but interesting, with good screens and some unique design choices. Don’t look for much in the way of design customizability, though, as Chevy has been downright stingy about interior hues. It’s black or black-and-red for now.
It’s worth noting that the Blazer EV has little in common with the Blazer SUV that Chevy also sells. Both have a relatively similar performance-style swagger, but they share little more than a handful of buttons and knobs.
The Blazer EV currently comes in either a rear-drive configuration with an 85-kwh battery pack and 340 hp, or an all-wheel-drive version with two motors good for 288 hp. The eventual SS version will have 557 hp and Brembo brakes.
Over the next few years, Chevrolet will offer a front-motor, front-wheel-drive version, too. This setup may maximize range. That said, range varies by setup. Expect between 279 and 324 miles, depending on the configuration. All models can charge pretty quickly, even on Level 2 home chargers. At a fast charger, they can be topped up at an impressive 78 miles in 10 minutes in an ideal situation.
A comfortable ride and a quiet demeanor mean the Blazer can double as a luxury car. Its 5,400-pound curb weight hardly makes it a lightweight, though.
The Blazer EV has a fairly spacious interior, though its design is less imaginative than in many of its rivals. Chevy doesn’t seem to take advantage of the Blazer EV’s flat floor in the way, say, Tesla does with a similar configuration. The big dash, wide center console, and lack of a frunk almost feel like throwbacks to the gasoline-only era.
All models have decent crash-avoidance tech, while adaptive cruise control is optional. Some versions will eventually offer GM’s trick Super Cruise system for stints of hands-free driving, too.
No crash tests have been performed, though.
How much does the 2025 Chevrolet Blazer EV cost?
It's about $49,000 for an LT AWD model with the smaller battery pack. It also comes with a decent amount of features including an 17.7-inch touchscreen with Google Built-in (but no Android Auto or Apple CarPlay), an 11.0-inch digital instrument cluster, synthetic leather upholstery, and 19-inch alloy wheels.
The rear-wheel drive RS model with the big 102-kwh battery pack runs about $54,000.

Is the Chevrolet Blazer EV a good-looking car?
There’s just so much going on here. The Blazer EV has a low-slung look with a long hood and plenty of curves outside. Its cabin is loaded with styling details—but perhaps too many for some.
Still, we find it interesting and forward-looking enough to grant it a 7 with points above average for its inside and outside.
The Blazer EV doesn’t have too much in common with its gas-fueled sibling, and it is a distinct departure from any Blazer-badged model Chevrolet produced in the past. Up front, it has a pinched grille-like element with a central bowtie surrounded by arrow-esque running lights. The low hood gives way to a sleek windshield and a roofline that drags on in a wagon-like manner. Sharp taillights at the rear recall those up front. Black-painted fender flares, lower cladding, and a rear bumper give off a quasi-base model/rugged vibe, which doesn’t quite seem to match the Blazer EV’s mission. A stylized charging door behind the front tire stands out a bit too much.
The cabin is cool, if a bit overwrought to some. The big 11.7-inch touchscreen has an irregular shape. It’s mounted next to an 11.0-instrument cluster in the control panel layout so favored by today’s automakers. Just a few physical buttons sit below. Five aircraft-esque climate control vents are scattered about. Contrasting two-tone interior trim gives the Blazer EV a sporty, if busy appearance inside, too.

Most versions of the 2025 Chevrolet Blazer EV prioritize refinement over scorching performance.
The 2025 Chevrolet Blazer EV has a refined feel with good braking and impressive acceleration. It gets a 7 on the TCC scale thanks to its good ride quality and spirited acceleration.
Is the Chevrolet Blazer EV 4WD?
Each version of the Blazer EV can be had with a dual-motor setup for all-wheel drive. Rear-wheel drive is available, and front-wheel drive will be offered.
How fast is the Chevrolet Blazer EV?
The Blazer EV is quick. It’ll zip to 60 mph in about six seconds in LT trim with its two motors producing a combined 288 hp and 333 lb-ft of torque. Our limited drives in the 340-hp Blazer EV RS with its single, rear-mounted motor suggest similar scoot.
We’ve yet to drive the Blazer LT with its single motor and rear-wheel drive, though.
The Blazer SS is estimated to do the deed in under four seconds with its goofily named Wide Open Watts (or WOW) mode engaged.
This EV has a fairly conventional suspension with double wishbones up front and a multi-link setup at the rear. It has a luxury car-like-feel, with good lane centering at highway speeds and a stable overall feel. It’s not the most nimble EV in town, owing both to its size and its slow steering ratio that means more turning of the tiller to enter a parking spot than, say, a Tesla Model Y.
On a winding road, the Blazer EV’s heft reveals itself quickly. It’s competent, but not as sporty as its name and styling would otherwise suggest. Activating Sport mode adds heft to the steering and brings a synthetic sound into the cabin via the audio system speakers.
A steering-wheel paddle offers up additional brake regeneration, and the Blazer EV has two levels of one-pedal operation. Strong brakes bring it to a halt in standard mode, too.

The 2025 Chevrolet Blazer EV has a spacious cabin, but seat comfort could improve.
The Blazer EV has a sporty-looking interior with interesting trim and materials. It’s spacious, but the seats aren’t particularly comfortable. We end up at a 6 here by adding a point for cargo space.
Stretching around 192 inches long, the Blazer EV is bigger than the Ford Mustang Mach-E. It nestles in somewhere around the Jeep Grand Cherokee and Chevy’s own gas-only Blazer.
Big door openings provide easy access to front and rear seats with generous legroom. But the seats themselves are short and light on support. The driver’s seat needs a bit more adjustment, especially considering how low-set some of the controls are. Rear-seat headroom suffers with the available glass roof.
The Blazer EV has 25.5 cubic feet of cargo space behind the rear seats, which grows to over 59 cubes with the rear seat backs folded down. There’s no frunk up front, though small-items storage in the cabin is pretty good overall.

The electric Blazer has yet to be crash tested.
How safe is the Chevrolet Blazer EV?
Without IIHS or NHTSA scores, we can’t rate the 2025 Chevrolet Blazer EV for its safety.
It comes well-equipped with crash-avoidance features, though, including an automatic emergency braking system that can detect pedestrians, adaptive cruise control, active lane control, and rear parking sensors.
Certain versions of the Blazer EV can be further outfitted with Super Cruise, a system that allows hands-off driving on hundreds of thousands of miles of pre-mapped highways. It’s a great system for road warriors.

The 2025 Chevrolet Blazer EV comes loaded up with everything but Apple CarPlay.
The 2025 Chevrolet Blazer EV is quite nicely equipped, though its lack of Apple CarPlay compatibility may be a deal-killer for some.
The Blazer start around $49,000 prior to any incentives for an AWD LT model. It’s reasonably well-outfitted with synthetic leather upholstery, a 17.7-inch touchscreen with Google Built-in, plenty of crash-avoidance features, and 19-inch alloy wheels.
All in, that’s not a bad value. We’d give the Blazer EV an 8 for its standard fare, its good screen, and its eventual varied lineup, but the fact that Apple CarPlay isn’t offered is a curious omission. Sure, Google Built-in is quite good, but it requires a Google login and some drivers may simply find it to be inconvenient if they’re used to Apple CarPlay.
The Blazer EV’s 3-year/36,000-mile warranty is pretty basic, though the 8-year/100,000-mile battery warranty is good.
Which Chevrolet Blazer EV should I buy?
We'd go with the bigger battery pack in the rear-drive RS model for about $54,000. It comes with heated and cooled front seats, ambient interior lighting, a power driver's seat, driver's seat memory, a heated steering wheel, and 21-inch wheels.
How much is a fully loaded Chevrolet Blazer EV?
The promised Blazer EV SS is likely to top $70,000 with a few options.

Is the Chevrolet Blazer EV good on energy?
Indeed. Its available 102-kwh battery pack offers up more than 3 miles of estimated range per kwh in single and dual-motor variants. That’s good for a 10 on hte TCC scale.
Admittedly, our estimates here are based on the 2024 model year. We’ll update this space when 2025 estimates are available.
In 2024, the LT and RS with the 85-wh battery pack were estimated at 279 miles of range. The rear-drive RS has a 102-kwh pack and a 324-mile estimate.
As of this writing, the front-drive LT with the smaller pack and the high-performance SS have yet to be rated.
The Blazer EV charges quickly, too. Those with the 85-kw pack can fast-charge at up to 150 kw, while the 102-kwh pack can top out at 190 kw. Those figures equate to an impressive 69 or 78 miles in 10 minutes in ideal conditions.
The Blazer EV can handle household-style Level 2 charging at up to 11 kw, which is enough to charge up completely in 8-10 hours, depending on the battery.
GM plans to offer a kit that can provide up to 9.6 kw of backup to a house.
