What's the biggest TV size I can fit on this wall, and which are some decent brands for the same?

The wall (on which the current TV is mounted) is 40 inches wide.
So I'm kind of real-estate limited.

Viewing distance is 10-12 feet.

Not too sure about brands but according to this, somewhere between a 42 and 49 inch screen is the max you could probably fit on that wall.

Best option is to get a carpenter's measuring tape and match it diagonally across the TV.

I guess you can arrange 55 inch TV on a wall mount by swiveling it a bit. So right side would be closer to the wall behind while left side would be a bit farther away.

With a swiveling arm mount you could do a 50 or maybe a 55 inch but no more than than. Are asking for mounting hardware brand or tv brands?

it's near to stair case, for safety of TV, just take care to keep minimum 1 feet distance between stair case & TV. I think the one you already have is best size.

With the width of the wall been mentioned 32 inches screen would be fine while 40 inches would be just about fitting in rightly.

40 inches wide wall space doesn't translate to 40 inches wide TV as TVs are measured diagonally (excluding bezels).
Yeah TV screen dimensions are indeed measured diagonally.

This is an overlay of a 55 inch size (using the displaywars.com tool)

So it seems 55 would juuuust fit but most likely will stick out half an inch or so after including the bezel. Among the common sizes, your only options will be 43, and 50.
