Reading Time: 2 minutesIntroducing ECHO Suites Extended StaySM by Wyndham, the new home-away-from-home for construction workers, traveling nurses, and digital nomads, with its first location in Spartanburg, SC.
Construction workers embarking on month-long projects, traveling nurses exploring new cities for extended stays, and digital nomads embracing flexible work policies now have a new home-away-from-home option with ECHO Suites Extended StaySM by Wyndham. The brand celebrated the grand opening of its inaugural location, ECHO Suites Spartanburg in South Carolina.
This opening marks a significant milestone for ECHO Suites, which has expanded its development pipeline to include nearly 270 hotels and over 33,000 rooms across the United States and Canada. Timed to coincide with an anticipated surge in infrastructure projects nationwide over the next decade, additional ECHO Suites are scheduled to launch in Texas and Virginia later this year.
“Spartanburg, like many other cities around the country, is booming with projects that require long-term, comfortable and affordable stays. ECHO Suites is the answer with a well-designed prototype created with the operator in mind. Plus, when you add in the collaboration with the world’s largest hotel franchisor, it’s a perfect match.” – Philip Cox, ECHO Suites Spartanburg Owner
Efficiently Serving Today’s Travelers
The launch of ECHO Suites aligns with substantial infrastructure investments in the United States, including $1.2 trillion allocated through the 2021 Infrastructure and Jobs Act—the largest in U.S. history. Additionally, the CHIPS and Science Act of 2022 provides $280 billion to spur the construction of new chip manufacturing plants nationwide.
These initiatives provide significant momentum for Wyndham and everyday business travelers, especially construction and trade professionals seeking long-term accommodations while working on projects across the country. This surge is projected to generate an estimated $3.3 billion in additional room revenue for Wyndham franchisees over the coming years.
The purpose-built ECHO Suites prototype features 124 rooms on less than two acres of land, offering a highly competitive cost per key. Spanning approximately 50,000 square feet, the design maximizes revenue-generating space with single- and two-queen studio suites equipped with kitchens. Efficiently-designed public areas—including a lobby, fitness center, and 24/7 guest laundry—minimize operational demands.
Continued Investment in Extended-Stay Offerings
In reaffirmation of its commitment to the thriving extended-stay sector, Wyndham appoints Mandeep Singh as Vice President of Extended Stay Operations. With over two decades of global experience in extended-stay hotels, corporate housing, serviced apartments, and multi-family properties, Mandeep will oversee Wyndham’s expanding portfolio, focusing on ECHO Suites and the new Waterwalk Extended Staysm by Wyndham brand.
“There’s enormous potential in the extended-stay segment, and the opening of our first ECHO Suites in Spartanburg is an exciting example of the brand delivering on that opportunity to our owners. With the addition of Mandeep Singh, we’re reinforcing our commitment to our Owner First philosophy as we continue to grow ECHO Suites to meet the needs of today’s guests.”- Krishna Paliwal, President, Hawthorn Extended Stay by Wyndham and Head of Architecture, Design and Construction, Wyndham Hotels & Resorts
Alongside the debut of ECHO Suites in Spartanburg, the brand aims to reach a milestone of 75 hotels open or under construction by the close of 2026, with a target of 300 hotels operational by 2032.
