In June 2024, the Flughafen Wien Group, which includes Vienna Airport, Malta Airport, and Kosice Airport, handled 3,970,365 passengers, reflecting an 8.4% increase compared to the same month last year. Specifically, Vienna Airport saw a 6.5% rise in passenger volume, reaching 3,020,849 travellers. This surge made June 2024 the busiest June in the airport’s history, with over 113,000 passengers on June 28th alone, marking the busiest day ever recorded at the airport.
During the first half of 2024, Vienna Airport’s passenger traffic increased by 7.9%, totaling 14,386,331 travellers, achieving 98.1% of the pre-pandemic levels seen in the first half of 2019.
In June 2024, the number of local passengers at Vienna Airport increased by 8.5% to 2,338,351, while transfer passenger traffic saw a slight rise of 0.1% to 673,526. Flight movements also went up by 5.6%, with 21,874 take-offs and landings. Additionally, cargo volume grew significantly by 21.1%, reaching 24,808 tonnes.
Malta Airport experienced a significant rise in passenger numbers, up 13.9% to 858,738 in June 2024. Kosice Airport also saw a sharp increase of 28.1%, handling 90,778 passengers compared to the same period last year.
From January to June 2024, Vienna Airport’s passenger traffic increased by 7.9%, reaching 14,386,331 travellers. Cargo volume during this period also climbed by 17.9%, totaling 141,118 tonnes. Across the entire Flughafen Wien Group, total passenger volume rose by 10.1%, amounting to 18,721,110 travellers in the first half of 2024.
