Stock market update: FMCG stocks down as market falls

NEW DELHI: FMCG stocks were trading lower on Wednesday at 10:50AM

Honasa Consumer Ltd.(up 2.14%), Bikaji Foods International Ltd.(up 1.34%), Britannia Industries Ltd.(up 0.70%), Dodla Dairy Ltd.(up 0.22%), Procter & Gamble Hygiene & Healthcare Ltd.(up 0.22%), Godrej Consumer Products Ltd.(up 0.18%), Prataap Snacks Ltd.(up 0.17%) and Euro India Fresh Foods Ltd.(up 0.03%) were among the top gainers.

Umang Dairies Ltd.(down 3.38%), Nakoda Group Of Industries Ltd.(down 2.53%), Sheetal Cool Products Ltd.(down 2.31%), Dangee Dums Ltd.(down 2.18%), Vadilal Industries Ltd.(down 2.16%), Tasty Bite Eatables Ltd.(down 2.05%), Mrs. Bectors Food Specialities Ltd.(down 1.96%), Hindustan Foods Ltd.(down 1.67%), Emami Ltd.(down 1.63%) and Jyothy Labs Ltd.(down 1.37%) were among the top losers.

The NSE Nifty50 index was trading 234.5 points down at 24198.7, while the 30-share BSE Sensex was down 774.12 points at 79577.52 at around 10:50AM.

Maruti Suzuki India Ltd.(up 1.48%), Britannia Industries Ltd.(up 0.69%), Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd.(up 0.59%), Divi's Laboratories Ltd.(up 0.29%) and SBI Life Insurance Company Ltd.(up 0.05%) were among the top gainers in the Nifty pack.

On the other hand, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd.(down 6.86%), Shriram Finance Ltd.(down 2.54%), Hindalco Industries Ltd.(down 2.25%), HCL Technologies Ltd.(down 2.25%), Tata Steel Ltd.(down 2.01%), Tata Motors Ltd.(down 1.73%), Hero MotoCorp Ltd.(down 1.59%), Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd.(down 1.5%), Coal India Ltd.(down 1.49%) and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd.(down 1.45%) were trading in the red.
