The growth was primarily driven by a 9 percent increase in international traffic. Conversely, domestic traffic saw a 3 percent decrease from the prior year.
Specifically, domestic travel saw 2,643,547 passengers, down 3 percent from last June. International passenger traffic experienced a notable surge, with 2,178,745 travelers, up 9 percent from June of the previous year.
Flight movements totaled 64,774 in June, reflecting a decrease of 6 percent compared to the same month last year.
Drone activity surges as temperatures rise.
In June, 2,727 drone flights were reported in Nixon Drone – Avion’s drone management system. “This is a significant increase from 2023 when we had 1,889 flights,” says Mats Gerstein, head of Aviano’s drone program. “With summer and good weather, the number of drone flights increases. We still expect further growth ahead.
