Samsung Galaxy Ring

The three colors of the Galaxy Ring.

After teasing the Galaxy Ring earlier this year, Samsung has finally revealed all the specs for the new wearable, including color options. The company shared the updates during its Unpacked event in Paris on Wednesday.

The Galaxy Ring comes in Titanium Black, Titanium Silver and Titanium Gold -- all colors that look inconspicuous enough to pass for a standard ring, if you don't look too closely. And to be sure: yes, the rings are made of titanium.

Before Wednesday's event, Samsung hadn't shared many details about the health wearable, merely noting that the device was "here to change the shape of future health" and playing a quick sizzle reel showing an outline of the upcoming device.

Now, the company has provided information such as color, price and battery life. The Galaxy Ring starts at $400 and can last up to seven days on a single charge. It comes in nine sizes, ranging from a size 5 to a size 13, and weighs between 2.3g and 3g. It's 7mm wide and 2.6mm thick.

The wearable, which can passively measure your health metrics, suggests Samsung will continue to forge a path in the increasingly competitive digital health space. Samsung says its Health platform now has 64 million monthly active users. And the Galaxy Watch now has company when it comes to tracking health and fitness

But Samsung will need to distinguish the Galaxy Ring from competitors like the Oura Ring by incorporating standout features, like innovative (and helpful) AI capabilities, as well as smoother interoperability with other Galaxy devices. (Sadly, the Galaxy Ring isn't compatible with iPhones.) There's also the advantage of not having a subscription fee, setting it apart from Oura's $6 monthly cost. That difference could make the Galaxy Ring more financially enticing to some, despite the higher up-front starting price.

You can preorder the Galaxy Ring in black, silver or gold starting today in the US, with general availability coming July 24.
