PM Modi To Chair NITI Aayog's Ninth Governing Council Meeting
New Delhi, Jul 9 (KNN) The Prime Minister's Office announced today that NITI Aayog, India's premier policy think tank, will hold its ninth Governing Council meeting on July 27, 2024.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to chair the session, which will focus on the 'Viksit Bharat@2047' initiative aimed at transforming India into a developed nation by its centennial year of independence.
The Governing Council, Niti Aayog's highest decision-making body, comprises all state chief ministers, lieutenant governors of Union Territories, and key Union ministers. Prime Minister Modi serves as the Chairman of the organisation.
A senior government official, speaking on condition of anonymity, revealed that Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is expected to preview elements of the Viksit Bharat vision and action plan during her Budget presentation on July 23, just days before the Council meeting.
The 'Viksit Bharat@2047' document, currently in development, outlines a comprehensive strategy to elevate India to the status of a USD 30 trillion developed economy by 2047.
This vision encompasses various facets of national progress, including economic growth, social development, environmental sustainability, and governance reforms.
In 2023, NITI Aayog was tasked with consolidating ten sectoral thematic visions into a unified roadmap for India's development.
This integrated approach aims to address the multifaceted challenges facing the nation as it strives for developed status.
The upcoming Governing Council meeting is anticipated to be a crucial platform for discussing and refining this long-term vision, bringing together diverse perspectives from across India's political and administrative spectrum.
