Reading Time: 4 minutesAtlantis Paradise Island, the iconic resort destination in the Bahamas and the Caribbean, has recently completed a transformative $150 million renovation across its entire property. This extensive upgrade includes modernizations to the casino, guestrooms, restaurants, and lounges.
The resort now boasts elegantly refashioned guestrooms in The Royal, its most iconic towers. Guests can also experience an entirely revamped Atlantis Casino, showcasing contemporary design and state-of-the-art gaming facilities. A highlight of the renovation is Paranza, a new dining venue at The Cove, where Michelin-starred chef Michael White brings his exceptional culinary expertise.
The updates reflect the unique spirit of Atlantis, incorporating custom fixtures and design elements inspired by the ocean and the diverse ecosystems of the Bahamas. New features include Bar Sol, Cleito’s private gaming area, and Silan. Additionally, guests can enjoy Perch, the Caribbean’s first Shake Shack, and FIELDTRIP. Luxury shopping options have expanded with Cartier, Thistle, and the soon-to-open Christian Louboutin store. Furthermore, a Paradise Links mini-golf course will soon be available, offering another exciting activity for visitors.
These enhancements ensure that Atlantis Paradise Island continues to provide an unparalleled experience, blending luxury with the natural beauty and vibrant culture of the Bahamas.
“Atlantis continuously elevates the guest experience, and recent developments at The Royal, Paranza and the Atlantis Casino provide guests with upgraded, modern touches while retaining the resort’s integral identity that visitors know and love,” said Audrey Oswell, President and Managing Director of Atlantis. “Atlantis’ experiential-driven programming allows our guests and visitors to create lifelong memories while visiting the resort and the Bahamas. The new designs throughout Atlantis demonstrate our commitment to providing an unsurpassed vacation experience.”
The Royal at Atlantis, the renowned 1,201-room hotel that houses the Atlantis Casino, has undergone a multimillion-dollar transformation. This extensive makeover includes fully redesigned guestrooms adorned with bespoke décor, meticulously curated to provide a luxurious and serene experience.
Led by Tony Tompkins, Atlantis’ Senior Vice President of Design and Creative Director, the redesign of the guestrooms transports guests to the tranquility of the Bahamas’ white sand beaches. The focal point of these rooms is their breathtaking Caribbean views. The new carpets, inspired by the ocean’s calmness and beauty, perfectly complement the serene setting. Sculptural pieces, influenced by the unique archipelago of the Bahamas, are strategically placed above the beds and desks, offering visual glimpses of the island’s charm within the space. Cool shades of blue and white, combined with neutral beechwood, evoke the soothing seas, creating a peaceful retreat for travelers to relax and unwind.
The Royal features 120 suites, including 10 Grand Suites, four Presidential Suites, and three Royal Suites, all reflecting the new design ethos of the guest rooms. The suites incorporate richer, deeper colors to add depth, with bold teals and sage greens providing an elegant touch. This redesign enhances the guest experience, ensuring that every stay at The Royal is both immersive and unforgettable.
The Atlantis Casino, one of the most iconic features of Atlantis Paradise Island, has undergone a significant transformation. This 85-table, 700-game casino is now home to a refreshed aesthetic and the addition of Bar Sol, offering guests a new level of luxury and entertainment.
A highlight of the casino’s design includes the four instantly recognizable glass sculptures by internationally renowned artist Dale Chihuly. Created specifically for the Atlantis Casino 25 years ago, the Sun and The Moon installations combine color, light, form, and space to create an immersive experience. The new design enhances these sculptures by re-lighting them and minimizing the surrounding structure, allowing Chihuly’s work to harmonize with the casino’s light and space.
The custom carpet, featuring 26 shades inspired by the jewel tones in the casino’s art, adds to the sophisticated look with deeply saturated hues, gold accents, shimmering textures, and flowing lines reminiscent of the sea’s refractions. This cohesive design creates a sense of place and elegance throughout the space.
The beloved murals in the casino have been artfully restored, and the light features updated to merge modern elements with Atlantis’ signature style. The ceilings, previously covered by canopies, are now open, providing a more spacious and airy atmosphere with unobstructed views of the entire casino floor.
At the heart of the casino, the upgraded Moon Bar now features a circular deck, offering guests a perfect spot to take a break from the gaming action or enjoy an elevated view of the casino floor.
The newly introduced Bar Sol pays homage to the late Sol Kerzner’s love for Bahamian artists, music, and entertainment. This stylish venue offers guests a sophisticated atmosphere to enjoy expertly crafted cocktails and dance beneath a raised stage and DJ booth. A restored Chihuly chandelier, radiating warm gold hues, serves as the centerpiece of Bar Sol, enhancing the unique ambiance complemented by nightly live music performances.
In addition to its gaming and entertainment options, the Atlantis Casino also boasts several of the resort’s finest dining experiences. Notable among these are Nobu and Silan, the latter being a new restaurant by James Beard Award-winning chef Alon Shaya.
The redefined Atlantis Casino seamlessly blends art, luxury, and entertainment, ensuring an unforgettable experience for every guest.
Paranza, the newest dining gem at The Cove, Atlantis, a luxury all-suite hotel, offers guests a culinary escape to the Italian coastline, courtesy of Michelin-starred chef Michael White. The restaurant’s interior, a collaboration between award-winning design studio Jeffrey Beers International and Tony Tompkins, harmoniously blends the vibrant blue waters and white sand beaches of the Bahamas with the essence of Italy, perfectly mirroring Chef White’s accessible yet refined approach to fine dining.
As guests arrive at Paranza, they embark on a culinary journey that begins with a stroll along a winding path, leading to a warmly lit patio nestled under a wooden pergola. This inviting space opens into the main dining area, where the ambiance is set by hand-blown glass, antique mirrors, and iron arches. The decor features earthy hues such as oak, smoky blue, and bright cognac, creating a cozy yet sophisticated atmosphere.
A highlight of Paranza is the bar area, which boasts a temperature-controlled dual-purpose wine wall that serves as a striking focal point at the entryway of the private dining room. Inside this exclusive space, guests are treated to an elegant setting adorned with oversized, seashell-shaped brass light fixtures and custom design elements, providing the perfect backdrop for an intimate dining experience.
Paranza at The Cove, Atlantis, seamlessly combines exquisite design with culinary excellence, transporting guests to a world where the charm of the Italian coastline meets the tranquility of the Bahamas.
