PHOTOS: Snowmass Rodeo honors Darce Vold; Native American dancers join fun

Darce Vold, third from left, the executive director of the Snowmass Western Heritage Association, which runs the Snowmass Rodeo, is honored for her decades of service prior to the rodeo on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, in Snowmass Town Park. A stock contractor since 1995, Vold is the one pulling most of the strings in order to make the Snowmass Rodeo happen each week.

The third Snowmass Rodeo of the summer took place in front of one of the biggest crowds it’ll likely see all season last Wednesday as the Fourth of July crowds came to the Roaring Fork Valley.

Of note, the evening got started with a special recognition of Darce Vold, the rodeo’s longtime stock contractor who does most of the rodeo’s orchestrating behind the scenes. Also part of the night was a special performance from Native American dancers.

The Snowmass Rodeo runs each Wednesday, rain or shine, through Aug. 21. This is the 50th anniversary season for the longstanding tradition.
