The Sydney International Convention Centre (ICC Sydney), operated by ASM Global, has once again produced a standout graduate from the AIPC Future Shapers leadership program. This graduate achieved recognition after a compelling on-stage presentation aimed at addressing industry challenges during the AIPC Congress in Costa Rica this week.

The ‘FutureForce’ team from AIPC Future Shapers, led by ICC Sydney’s Gabriella Alberici, Senior Manager of Business Development for Corporate, Government & Events, and supported by Samantha Glass, Director of Corporate Affairs, Communication, and Sustainability, achieved recognition alongside colleagues from convention centers in Paris, Belfast, and Kuala Lumpur. They unveiled a groundbreaking technological platform designed to globally attract talent and enhance career development, networking, and learning, while boosting awareness of the business events industry and optimizing its most vital resource—its people.

Geoff Donaghy, ICC Sydney’s CEO and Group Director of Convention Centres for ASM Global (APAC), commended Gabriella and Samantha for their dedication to innovation and their role in disseminating these ideas through AIPC’s global network.

“Our investment in upskilling and training coupled with our people’s ingenuity ensures that ICC Sydney remains at the fore of event management and technical delivery.

“We are incredibly proud to have established a culture that encourages our team of professionals to participate in this world class program that fosters innovation back in our business while building their global networks – which underpins the success we deliver for our clients today and into the future.

“ICC Sydney’s AIPC Future Shaper graduates have certainly represented the venue to the highest possible standard. Gabriella’s outstanding achievement as the Team Leader of the winning team FutureForce is a testament to her tenacity, collaboration and world class venue management practices,” Mr Donaghy said.

This latest accomplishment extends the legacy of AIPC Future Shapers alumni from ICC Sydney, with team members participating in the leadership program annually since it began. Notable participants include Dana Fish, Senior Manager of Business Development for National Associations, and Sathyan Chandrasekhar, Financial Controller in 2023, along with Sandra Rae, Senior Manager of Public Relations in 2022.

AIPC CEO Sven Bossu leads the Future Shapers program, supported by an international taskforce pivotal in structuring and executing the course. Among them is program founder Samantha Glass, ICC Sydney’s Director of Corporate Affairs, Communication, and Sustainability.

Samantha Glass said: “We set out to deliver a unique program to accelerate the leadership and entrepreneurial skills of our industry’s high performers. This year the participants have once again presented practical solutions to solve industry problems – attracting and retaining our brand and therefore talent and improving and clarifying communication for operational teams in centres.

I could not be prouder of their collective efforts and performance throughout the nine-month program. I wish them every success in the future as they take their learnings back to their organisations – while helping to elevate and shape the future of events across the globe.”

The AIPC Future Shapers program is tailored for senior managers demonstrating established leadership capabilities, providing them a dynamic learning environment that results in practical outcomes benefiting the entire industry. For more details on the AIPC Future Shapers program,
