With a shotgun start at 9 a.m. sharp on Sunday, June 9, the Aspen Gridiron Classic teed off at the Aspen Golf Club. For twelve years running, the tournament has served as a fundraiser for the Aspen football program, supporting the Mountain West Youth Program, and Aspen Middle and High School programs, creating a cohesive player and coaching program.
The invitational golf scramble featured traditional golf on the course, as well as a blend of fun challenges with prizes at stake such as a hole-in-one challenge, a football toss through a tire, and a field goal competition.
A true community event, Aspen football players served as caddies, coaches, and parents took part as participants and volunteers, and local businesses donated items for the silent auction.
Funds raised from the Classic over the years have helped purchase new uniforms and weight training equipment, as well as provide scholarship opportunities. With the success of this year’s event, it continues to make an impact on youth football.
