Explore Thailand’s Rich Culinary Heritage At The Amazing Food Festival 2024 In Phuket

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is organizing a series of events called the “Amazing Food Festival 2024” to showcase the richness of Thai culinary culture and enhance Thailand’s reputation as a premier gastronomy tourism destination.

This weekend marks the kickoff at Central Phuket with the theme “Good Food Good Vibes”. The festival aims to highlight the diverse gastronomic experiences available across Thailand and showcase the unique flavors and food traditions of the region.

The schedule includes:

• Phuket: 5-7 July at Central Phuket
• Chiang Mai: 20-22 July at Central Festival Chiang Mai
• Prachuap Khiri Khan: 10-12 August at Hua Don Beach, Khao Takiab, Hua Hin

The opening ceremony in Phuket was graced by Dr. Phonpoom Vipattipumiprates, Vice Minister of Tourism and Sports, alongside Mr. Sophon Suwanrat, Governor of Phuket Province, and Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT Governor.

Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT Governor, said “The event reflects the government’s ‘Ignite Tourism Thailand’ vision which encompasses several approaches to establish Thailand as a tourism hub. Part of the strategies is the five must-do activities, including ‘Must Eat’ that leverages gastronomy tourism as a delightful way for tourists to explore Thailand, thus helping to boost the local economy via culinary tours.”

During the three-day event, attendees can savor local signature dishes and specialty menus from MICHELIN-awarded restaurants, famous eateries, and street food vendors.

The program features cooking shows by acclaimed chefs such as Chef Big Phuripat Jaiweerattanakul, winner of Stars Chef Thailand and Head of Cold Kitchen at Hilton Bangkok Grand Asoke, along with Chef Kao Vayo Nisatchanakan and other talented chefs from communities like Ban Bang Rong and Bang Tao-Cherng Talay.

Entertainment includes live performances by Thai artists including Chart Suchart, Getsanova, Earth Patravee, Off Pongsak, Tangmo The Voice, and Zani Nipaporn.

Each location offers unique activities such as art and craft booths and a Thailand Tourism Awards booth showcasing sustainable businesses.

Visitors can register for a one-day trip through the “Amazing Food Festival 2024” Facebook page to explore local communities that play a vital role in supplying ingredients to city shops and restaurants.

Emphasizing sustainability, the event provides waste separation stations and encourages visitor engagement in Thailand’s sustainable tourism initiatives.

“The Amazing Food Festival 2024 is expected to attract 50,000 visitors and generate 35 million Baht in revenue at each of the three locations, helping to distribute some 100 million Baht to the Thai economy,” Ms. Thapanee said.
