ACI EUROPE, European airport trade association, has re-elected Armando Brunini as
President, highlighting continued focus on airport sustainability and operations.
In a significant development for the European airport industry, ACI EUROPE, the
continent’s leading airport trade association, has re-elected Armando Brunini for a
second term as its President. Brunini, who is also the CEO of SEA Milan Airports, was
reconfirmed during ACI EUROPE’s 34 th Annual Congress and General Assembly, held
at iGA Istanbul Airport on July 3, 2024.

Brunini’s re-election comes at a critical juncture for the European airport industry, which
faces numerous challenges, including the imperative for sustainability and the ongoing
adaptation of business models to ensure future success. Upon his re-election, Brunini
stated, “My tenure as ACI EUROPE President, yesterday extended for another year,
falls at a time of mounting challenges for the European airport industry. In times like this,
it is even more crucial for the industry to stay tightly knit and together forge our path
forward — working closely with European institutions both at EU and pan-European
levels, as well as national governments across our continent. The stakes are high as we
strive for a sustainable and decarbonised future, while adapting our business for
continued success. Europe’s airports are the beating heart of this continent, and it is an
absolute honour for me to continue representing this dynamic community in my second
term.”

The General Assembly also saw the appointment of several new members to the ACI
EUROPE Board for their first terms. These newly appointed leaders include Mr.
Selahattin Bilgen, CEO of iGA Istanbul Airport (Türkiye), Mr. Lukas Brosi, CEO of Zürich
Airport (Switzerland), Ms. Fanny Charles, CEO of SEALAR (France), Mr. Andrzej Ilków,
CEO of Polish Airports — Polskie Porty Lotnicze S.A. (Poland), Mr. Ken O’Toole, CEO
of Manchester Airports Group (United Kingdom), Ms. Laila Odina, CEO of Riga Airport
(Latvia), Mr. Jesús Caballero Pinto, CEO of SOF Connect — Sofia Airport (Bulgaria),
and Mr. Christian Poulsen, CEO of Copenhagen Airports (Denmark).

In addition to these new appointments, the Assembly confirmed the reappointment of
several key figures for a second term. These include Mr. Edward Arkwright, Deputy
CEO of Groupe ADP (France), Mr. Franck Goldnadel, Président du Directoire of Société
Aéroports de la Côte d’Azur (France), Mr. Serkan Kaptan, CEO of TAV Airports Holding

(Türkiye), Mr. Kimmo Mäki, CEO of Finavia (Finland), and Dr. Stefan Schulte, Chairman
of the Executive Board of Fraport (Germany).

ACI EUROPE plays a vital role in representing over 500 airports across 55 countries,
facilitating more than 90% of commercial air traffic in Europe. The association is
committed to addressing the Climate Emergency, with its members having pledged in
June 2019 to achieve Net Zero carbon emissions for operations under their control by
2050, without relying on offsetting measures. This commitment underscores the
industry’s dedication to sustainability and environmental responsibility.

The re-election of Brunini and the appointment of new board members are pivotal steps
for ACI EUROPE as it navigates the complex landscape of modern aviation. The
association’s efforts to collaborate closely with European institutions, national
governments, and industry stakeholders are crucial for achieving its ambitious goals,
particularly in sustainability and operational excellence.

In conclusion, the re-election of Armando Brunini as President of ACI EUROPE signifies
a robust commitment to tackling the pressing challenges faced by the European airport
industry. With a strong leadership team and a clear focus on sustainability, ACI
EUROPE is well-positioned to drive the industry forward, ensuring that Europe’s airports
continue to thrive as essential hubs of connectivity and economic activity.
