Spice Island Beach Resort, a premier destination in the Caribbean located in Grenada, has fully reopened after Hurricane Beryl hit the area. While the storm caused significant damage to Grenada’s dependencies, Carriacou and Petite Martinique, earlier in the week, this luxury all-inclusive resort, nestled on the renowned Grand Anse Beach, largely escaped the hurricane’s destructive effects. The resort, owned and operated locally, quickly resumed its operations, along with numerous other island accommodations.
Janelle Hopkin, President and Managing Director of Spice Island Beach Resort, said, “We are extremely grateful to be able to report that there was minimal impact to the property, and all of our guests weathered the storm with us safely,” adding that they were well cared for by team members who remained on property during the Category 4 storm.
Hopkin praised her hospitality team for their exceptional commitment, which safeguarded guest safety and comfort during the storm and facilitated a rapid restoration of the resort to full operational status.
Following the storm, Maurice Bishop International Airport in Grenada quickly reopened and resumed normal operations, with major airlines reinstating their flights.
Hopkin also highlighted the collective efforts of government officials, tourism representatives, and local communities in Grenada as they embark on the demanding and prolonged journey of recovery and rebuilding in areas most affected by the hurricane.“Grenadians and Caribbean people are resilient, and all hands are on deck to ensure that with a united response our communities are restored stronger than ever,” said Hopkin.
