Wimbledon 2024 Live Updates: Sinner in action against Kecmanovic; Alcaraz, Raducanu and Gauff through to round of 16

Defending champion and third seed Carlos Alcaraz defeated 29th-seeded American Frances Tiafoe 5-7, 6-2, 4-6, 7-6(2), 6-2 in third round of men’s singles on the fifth day of Wimbledon 2024 at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club (AELTC), London on Friday.

Spain’s Alcaraz will face either USA’s Brandon Nakashima or Frenchman Ugo Humbert in the round of 16

Later in the day, World No. 1 and top seed Jannik Sinner of Italy will be up against Serbia’s Miomir Kecmanovic in his third-round fixture.

In women’s singles, French Open runner-up and seventh-seeded Italian Jasmine Paolini made it to the round of 16, beating Canada’s Bianca Andreescu 7-6(4), 6-1. Spain’s Paula Badosa knocked out 14th-seeded Russian Daria Kasatkina 7-6(6), 4-6, 6-4.

Second seed and reigning US Open champion Coco Gauff defeated local qualifier Sonay Kartal 6-4, 6-0 while former US Open champion and local wildcard Emma Raducanu beat ninth seed Maria Sakkari 6-2, 6-3.
