Reading Time: < 1 minuteThe green stretch of Umbria is home to vines perfect for the manufacture of Colli
del Trasimeno DOC wines, together with enchanted sceneries and abundant soils.
Here are a three days itinerary to unravel the olden times and culinary traditions
of this region.
Passignano sul Trasimeno: Almost around 66 kilometers from Perugia, the ancient
Rocca di Passignano sul Trasimeno is based. It has its high towers dominating the
lake.
One can explore the area by bicycle, along the bike path. It runs along the lake
basin. There are striking city walls, followed by the Church of San Rocco and the
Sanctuary of Madonna dell’Oliveto. Savor Colli del Trasimeno DOC wine and spoil
in the typical olive oil made with Dolce Agogia of the region.
On the second day, Tuoro sul Trasimeno can be visited as it is a typical fishing
village. Here, every year, the remarkable battle is re-enacted at the foot of
Montegualandro Castle. Enjoy the Trasimeno bean, legumes with fresh spelt
salad, zuppa al tegamaccio di coccio, tangy Gamay, a red wine ideal for this
preparation.
On the third day, the Rocca del Leone, the church of Santa Maria Maddalena, and
the nearby Palazzo Corgna are some of the eye-catching constructions that
make Castiglione del Lago Italy’s one of the most beautiful villages to visit. Local
catches with good wine are what makes this truly special.
