A special Air India flight landed at Barbados airport on Wednesday to ferry home T20 World Cup champions India, who have been stranded in the West Indies due to the airport shutdown in the wake of Hurricane Beryl.
The Rohit-Sharma-led Indian team is expected to land in Delhi on Thursday.
Ahead of their departure, the Board of Control of Cricket in India posted a video of the T20 World Cup trophy which the Indians will be carrying home following their victory against South Africa in the final in Barbados on Saturday.
'It's coming home,' BCCI tweeted.
The special flight arranged by BCCI Secretary Jay Amit Shah will also carry members of the Indian media who went to cover the tournament but were stranded due to the hurricane.
Around 70 people, including players, support staff, families, and BCCI officials, have been stuck in Bridgetown, Barbados, for three days.
According to Sports Tak, the World Champions are now expected to arrive in New Delhi by 5 am on Thursday, July 4.
A celebratory event with Prime Minister Narendra D Modi is planned, but the schedule remains undecided.
