Reading Time: < 1 minuteMunich Airport celebrated the arrival of Gulf Air, a carrier based in Bahrain, with a festive water baptism, a ribbon-cutting ceremony, and gingerbread hearts. This marks the beginning of regular flights between Bahrain and this key Bavarian airport.
Gulf Air, which was established in 1950 and is Bahrain’s flagship airline, will offer services to Munich four times a week—on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays. The modern Airbus A321neo will be used for these flights, arriving in Munich at 6:35 a.m. and departing for Bahrain at 12:20 p.m.
Bahrain, an island nation in the Arabian Gulf, blends traditional and modern elements, making it an appealing destination for vacations or as a layover on longer journeys. It is connected to Saudi Arabia by the 25-km King Fahd Causeway. Bahrain’s international hub also provides numerous onward travel options to destinations like India, Singapore, Thailand, the Maldives, and China.
This new service increases the already substantial air travel connections between Munich and the Gulf States, which significantly contribute to Bavarian tourism. In 2023, Munich alone saw about 400,000 overnight stays from visitors from the Gulf region, a five percent increase from the previous year.
