A Lufthansa A380 aircraft, operating flight LH 762 from Munich, experienced a dramatic incident on Tuesday when one of its wheels caught fire during the landing at Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) in Delhi. According to sources quoted by news agency PTI, the aircraft, which was carrying around 490 passengers, managed to land safely despite the alarming situation.
Following the incident, the aircraft underwent comprehensive checks, revealing that essential spare parts were unavailable. This led to the unfortunate cancellation of the return flight to Munich. Passengers had already received their boarding passes for flight LH 763 when they were informed about the cancellation.
A Lufthansa spokesperson confirmed that the aircraft, identified as DAIMC, is now scheduled to operate flight LH 763 from Delhi to Munich on July 3. The incident has raised concerns about aircraft maintenance and passenger safety, but thankfully, no injuries were reported, and the situation was managed effectively.
