Association Of Asia Pacific Airlines Spearheads New Era in Aviation Safety With Kuala Lumpur Turboprop Conference

The Asia Pacific Turboprop Safety Conference (APTSC), the first of its kind, was held by the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA) on June 26-27, 2024, in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This event gathered over a hundred attendees, featuring representatives from approximately twenty turboprop operators from nations including Australia, Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Japan, the Maldives, Nepal, the Philippines, Taiwan, and Thailand.

Under the theme ‘Empowering Resilient Growth’, the Conference focused on advancing aviation safety in turboprop air transportation, aligning with the safety enhancement goals of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).

The conference served as an essential forum for various stakeholders—regulators, turboprop operators, equipment manufacturers, aviation safety bodies, and airport operators—to share insights, best practices, and technological innovations in turboprop operations. Discussions covered a range of crucial topics such as safety culture, technological advancements, and regulatory policies, emphasizing optimal strategies for aviation safety.

AAPA Director General, Mr. Subhas Menon, commented, “The Conference highlights the unique role that turboprop operators play in improving connectivity to regions where accessibility is limited.  Turboprops play a crucial role in bridging the transportation gaps in access to goods, services, tourism, and ultimately better livelihoods for remote communities in far flung areas.  The insights and collaboration fostered during this Conference will go a long way to support safe and reliable turboprop operations.”

The event highlighted AAPA’s dedication to upholding the highest safety standards in the aviation industry, promoting ongoing improvement and collaborative learning.
