Bhopal, July 1 (Udaipur Kiran): Madhya Pradesh is currently under the influence of a cyclonic circulation and a trough line, bringing a spell of rain across the state. Heavy downpours have been recorded in several areas over the past 24-48 hours. On Sunday, rains lashed over 20 districts, including Bhopal. Today, Monday, the weather is expected to remain changeable across the state, with rain likely in Bhopal and other regions, including Indore, Gwalior, Jabalpur, and Ujjain.

Intensified Rainfall Forecast from July 3rd

According to Dr. Ved Prakash Singh, Senior Scientist at the Meteorological Department, Bhopal, a strong rain system will become active from July 3rd, bringing widespread rainfall across Madhya Pradesh until July 15th. He further stated that thunderstorms, rain, and lightning are expected to prevail across the state for the next five days. From July 3rd onwards, rain activity from the East Bengal Bay will intensify, leading to heavy downpours in several districts of the eastern region. On July 4th, many other districts are likely to receive rainfall.

Rainfall Records from Sunday

On Sunday, Naugaon in Chhatarpur district recorded the highest rainfall of 72 mm (2.9 inches). Mandla received 1.25 inches of rain, while Rewa witnessed 2.1 inches of downpour. Bhopal and Tikamgarh recorded close to an inch of rain, while precipitation was also observed in Dhar, Gwalior, Indore, Khandwa, Raisen, Ratlam, Damoh, Jabalpur, Sagar, Umaria, and Malajkhand. Heavy showers continued in several cities of the state throughout the night.

Impact on Temperatures

The ongoing rainfall has led to a drop in daytime temperatures. Shajapur was the coolest city in Madhya Pradesh on Sunday, with a daytime temperature of 25.4 degrees Celsius and a nighttime temperature of 22.4 degrees. Pachmarhi, Umaria, Naugaon, Malajkhand, Sagar, and Seoni recorded temperatures below 30 degrees. Among major cities, Bhopal registered 30.2 degrees, Indore 31.6 degrees, Gwalior 34.6 degrees, Jabalpur 30.5 degrees, and Ujjain 32.2 degrees Celsius. Narsinghpur recorded the highest temperature of 35 degrees, with a nighttime low of 22 degrees Celsius.
