Cancelo with a moment of brilliance to dance away from his defenders into the right of the box. His pass into the middle is deflected out to Silva who comes up and hits the ball wide of the goal. 

Positive start for Portugal in the second half.

Slovenia kicks off the second half, shooting from right to left. No substitutions for either side at the break.

Rafael Leao gets away from his defenders on the left side of the pitch and lays the ball off to Palhinha at the edge of the box. He runs up to it and hits it the first time and the ball races towards the goal and strikes the left post.

That seems to be the last action of the half as the referee blows the whistle for half time.

Two minutes of added time to play.

Sesko is on the attack now. He goes for an ambitious shot from long range but Costa tracks the ball well to catch the powerful shot.

Vitinha wins the ball in the middle and plays it to Ronaldo on the left. He tries to get past Drkusic but the Slovenian does well to stick a leg out and take the ball away from Ronaldo.

Slovenia has a chance now. Stojanovic breaks away on the right and cuts a pass back to the edge of the box for Sporar. Nuno Mendes does well to track back and lash the ball away for a corner.

Rafael Leao tries to nick the ball away from Karnicnik on the right wing. The Slovenian stops the ball with his hand and is booked for the foul.

Ronaldo stands over the freekick. He strikes it with power and away from the wall, but it whizzes just over the bar in the end.

Rafael Leao is brought down by a bad challenge by Vanja Drkusic. The Slovenian is promptly booked by the referee. A freekick in a good spot for Portugal. 

Brilliant run into the right side of the box from Vitinha. He plays in a cross to Ronaldo who cannot generate enough power with his header to trouble Oblak.

Cerin returns the favour by bringing down Leao in a similar position while he was trying to break away.

Rafael Leao is lucky to not receive a card after he brings down Gnezda Cerin in the middle of the pitch. The referee has a word with Leao and Slovenia resumes the match

Mendes goes down once again after a collision with Sporar. Once again he gets up to his feet and seems alright to continue.

Slovenia finally has the ball at its feet. Stojanovic gets the ball on the right and stretches to reach it, catching Mendes’ leg in the process. Play is stopped as he receives medical attention. 

Match resumes after Mendes seems fit to play.

Once again the ball is with Silva on the right. He lays it off to Fernandes who puts in a first-time cross. Ronaldo tries to attack the ball but goes down inside the penalty box. The referee was in a good position and says no penalty.

Bernardo Silva gets the ball on the right wing. He cuts to his left and plays a delightful cross into the far post where Fernandes slide in with a stretched leg. He does not get a good connection with the ball as it goes out for a goal kick.

Portugal is maintaining possession of the ball for the opening minutes of the game. A corner comes in from the left for Portugal from Vitinha. Dias gets his head on it but it is cleared away by the Slovenian defence, only as far as Cancelo.

Portugal has a free kick on the left side of the pitch. Silva and Vitinha stand over it and the latter crosses the ball into the box. 

The cross is overhit and Pepe’s attempt to keep it in play ends in failure.

Bijol gives away the ball to Bruno Fernandes. He gives it to Silva who passes it back to the Manchester United man. He looks up and spots Ronaldo in the box and whips in a cross. The ball goes over Ronaldo and almost falls to Leao.

Karnicnik does well to hold him off and clear the ball away for a corner.

Slovenia going for the attack from the get-go. A cross comes into the box for Slovenia but Nuno Mendes positions himself well to clear the ball.
