Disney+ Hotstar and Dharmatic Entertainment drop the trailer of Showtime. From stardom to accepting one’s true self, producer wars to intense struggles, the industry has it all.
But it’s the resilience to bounce back that truly defines a star, as every setback is just a setup for a comeback and Raghu Khanna does just that.
He is back and here to dominate the world of showbiz. All episodes of Showtime are set to stream exclusively from 12th July onwards, on Disney+ Hotstar. Showtime is helmed by Emraan Hashmi, and Mahima Makwana with Mouni Roy, Rajeev Khandelwal, Shriya Saran, Vishal Vashishtha, Neeraj Madhav, and Vijay Raaz in pivotal roles.
Created by Sumit Roy, Showrunner and directed by Mihir Desai and Directed by Archit Kumar, the screenplay is by Sumit Roy, Mithun Gangopadhyay, and Lara Chandni while the dialogues are written by Jehan Handa and Karan Shrikant Sharma.
Mihir Desai, Showrunner and Director, said, “With Showtime, we want to delve deeper into the individual journey of each character and what they bring to the table. Raghu Khanna aka Emraan Hashmi will be seen in a different light, fighting his battles with utmost class and trying to mend what he broke.
“The graph of characters only grows and is sure to surprise you. Showtime is all about drama, gossip, producer wars and things that propel this industry to be what it is. I have said before that it is the time for Emraan-aissance and I can’t wait for audiences to witness all the fun on Disney+ Hotstar,” Desai added.
Emraan Hashmi said, “Just like any other place, the industry also has its ups and downs, but once you understand its true dynamics, you are here to stay. Raghu Khanna is a version of Karan Johar and his passion and drive to do his best at any challenge he takes upon, always reminds me of Karan.
“Sometimes I wonder, if there were producers like Raghu Khanna within the industry, what would be its fate? In my career of so many years, I have never come across a producer like Raghu, who can rise from the toxicity of Bollywood.
“Today’s producers are working on the whims and fancies of actors and Raghu is exactly the opposite. From losing the biggest studios of all time “Viktory Studios”, to an outsider to having a rough time with the love of his life, Yasmin (Mouni Roy), Raghu has faced a lot, but does that mean it’s the end of the story? Will he rise above the ashes and chase what is his,” Hashmi said.
Mouni Roy said, “Yasmin’s fate is a strong mirror to what happens to many actresses in the business who take a stand for themselves, despite being trolled by the fans and the industry. While this trolling didn’t define who we are, as actors we live for the love of our audiences and that’s the reason why this negative energy leaves an impact on us.
“In the series, Yasmin constantly fights an inner battle and tries to come back stronger. You’ll also witness a new dynamic between Yasmin and Raghu Khanna. I loved bringing Yasmin to life on screen, and I hope audiences enjoy all episodes of Showtime,” Roy added.
