NYT Strands today: hints, spangram and answers for Wednesday, June 26

Strands is a brand new daily puzzle from the New York Times. A trickier take on the classic word search, you’ll need a keen eye to solve this puzzle.

Like Wordle, Connections, and the Mini Crossword, Strands can be a bit difficult to solve some days. There’s no shame in needing a little help from time to time. If you’re stuck and need to know the answers to today’s Strands puzzle, check out the solved puzzle below.

How to play Strands

You start every Strands puzzle with the goal of finding the “theme words” hidden in the grid of letters. Manipulate letters by dragging or tapping to craft words; double-tap the final letter to confirm. If you find the correct word, the letters will be highlighted blue and will no longer be selectable.

If you find a word that isn’t a theme word, it still helps! For every three non-theme words you find that are at least four letters long, you’ll get a hint — the letters of one of the theme words will be revealed and you’ll just have to unscramble it.

Every single letter on the grid is used to spell out the theme words and there is no overlap. Every letter will be used once, and only once.

Each puzzle contains one “spangram,” a special theme word (or words) that describe the puzzle’s theme and touches two opposite sides of the board. When you find the spangram, it will be highlighted yellow.

The goal should be to complete the puzzle quickly without using too many hints.

All Map Fragment locations in Shadow of the Erdtree
The golden Erdtree in Shadow of the Erdtree.

What made the experience of Elden Ring so special was how it handled its open-world design. There was a bit of concern about FromSoftware combining the Souls-style combat and map design into an open world, but the result has become one of the most celebrated examples of how open-world design should be done. So, needless to say, everyone was itching for that map to get expanded with the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. The Land of Shadows is a separate new zone added to the game, but it is far larger and more dense than anyone anticipated. As it was in the base game, just exploring the map won't uncover the map for you. To do that, you need to find Map Fragments hidden around the world. There are five to collect to fully reveal the Land of Shadows, so go get them first to get a good lay of the land early.
All Map Fragment locations
As mentioned, there are five Map Fragments in total that correspond to five areas in Shadow of the Erdtree. We'll go through them in the general order you should come across them.

The first area you start in when beginning Shadow of the Erdtree is the Gravesite Plain. Simply ride forward across the field toward the pillar beside the road to collect it.

Rayman makes some surprising cameos in Beyond Good & Evil’s remaster
Key art of a Rayman game from Ubisoft.

Beyond Good & Evil -- 20th Anniversary Edition's reveal caught the attention of many Rayman fans last week because an image of the Ubisoft mascot was in part of its reveal trailer. After going hands-on with Beyond Good & Evil -- 20th Anniversary Edition, I can confirm that Rayman was teased because the franchise is referenced several times in its Anniversary Gallery, a neat feature hidden behind a couple of menus.

In the Anniversary Gallery, players can learn more about the development of Beyond Good & Evil. Rayman is obviously referenced at the start of that journey, as the team led by Michel Ancel that made Rayman 2 decided to move onto what would become Beyond Good & Evil as its next project. The Anniversary Edition also shows that the Rayman's Training animated short was a placeholder asset in Jade's lighthouse during development. To see more Rayman content, navigate to the Secret Stuff part of the Anniversary Gallery, and then choose the "Rayman in my BG&E?" gallery.

Beyond Good & Evil’s remaster is worth buying for this one new feature

Beyond Good & Evil is back, thanks to a new 20th Anniversary Edition from Ubisoft and Virtuos. It upgrades the classic game's visuals for modern platforms, implements achievements and a speedrun mode, and even adds a new questline that tightens the original's connection to the still-in-development Beyond Good & Evil 2. Beyond Good & Evil was ahead of its time in many ways when it originally launched in 2003, and I'm glad this re-release for its anniversary will make the game much more easily accessible for a whole new generation.

All of those features will probably be what most players pay attention to Beyond Good & Evil -- 20th Anniversary Edition for. But for those like myself who like to learn more about the development of games and see how they will evolve over time, the Anniversary Gallery hidden in the remaster's bonus menu is by far the most exciting feature.
