The West Bloomfield Volunteer Fire Department was presented a $21,089 check from the “Carsen Rettler’s Annual Memorial Fund and Golf Outing,” on June 12. This was Tara Rettler’s way of giving back to volunteer Firefighters and EMS. The annual golf outing was held at Shamrock Heights golf course in New London with 164 golfers in attendance along with the public to help support The West Bloomfield Volunteer Fire Department. They are a rural volunteer fire department that relies heavily on fundraisers, and funds from citizens in town.
They reached out to the Carsen Rettler’s memorial and explained what the department is made up of and why they would be a great candidate for this fundraiser, and to their surprise, the board members chose The West Bloomfield Volunteer Fire Department. They were ecstatic and delighted to be part of this fundraiser, not only did they get to volunteer at the golf outing on May 18, but they also got to attend an adult prom. All the proceeds from these events are what the department got back. The department can’t thank Tara Rettler, her family, and the board members enough for choosing their department.
