AFTER THE FIRE: After the Fire’s monthly meeting will be Tuesday, June 25 at 7pm at Halfmoon Town Hall on Lower Newtown Rd. in Halfmoon. After the Fire is a non-profit organization that helps Saratoga County Residents who have suffered a loss due to fire. Families are provided with gift cards, a night’s stay at a participating hotel/motel, Red Cross referral, informational material, emotional support. etc. Meetings are held on the 4th Tuesday of the month at 7pm. CHURCH PIEROGI SALE: Christ the Savior Church, 349 Eastline Rd., Ballston Lake is having a pierogi sale on Tuesday, June 25th.. TRAIL HIKE: At Moreau Lake State Park, 9am. Join an educator on a more difficult hike of 6 miles from Western Ridge, to Ridge Run, to Eastern Ridge with viewpoints along the Western Ridge Trail. Bring a lunch or snack, plenty of water, waterproof shoes, and appropriate clothing for the weather. The cost for the hike is $5 for adults (cash or check). Park tollbooth fees are waived in lieu of program fees, be sure to call 24 hours in advance to reserve your spot by calling the office at 518-793-0511.

SUNDIALS AND SUMMER SOLSTICE: A free program at the Brookside Museum. 7pm. Jere Blackwater, Former Board President of the Saratoga County History Center, will offer an entertaining program on his lifelong interest in sundials to commemorate the Summer Solstice.

IBM LOCAL MAGICIANS’ MEETING: Are you fascinated by the mystery and wonder of magic? Do you have a desire to learn the art of illusion? Look no further than the International Brotherhood of Magicians! Our group meets on the 4th Tuesday of every month at the Latham Firehouse at 226 Old Loudon Rd. in Latham at 7pm. ANIMAL WEIGH-IN: At Moreau Lake State Park, 10am. This program is new and will include a little meet and greet with each animal in the nature center. Afterwards we will work together to guess the weight of each animal and put them in order according to our guesses. We will use some weighted items to help us make guesses and have some fun in the process. This program is ideal for kids 7+ but siblings are welcome to join. BUTTERFLY WALK: Wilton Wildlife is offering free walks on Wednesdays, starting on May 29 and continuing through July 31. The walks will take place weekly at 1:30 pm and leave from the parking area at Old Gick Farm on Route 50, which is just under 4 miles past Wilton Mall. The walks last about an hour and cover a mile of gently rolling terrain. The walks will not take place if there is rain. Registration is required at least one business day in advance. VISUALLY IMPAIRED BUTTERFLY WALK: In addition to Wilton Wildlife Preserve & Park’s free walks on Wednesdays through the end of July, Wilton Wildlife is offering a one-time Karner Blue Butterfly Walk for the Visually Impaired. The walk will take place on Wednesday, June 26 at 4:30 pm. Through hands-on tactile learning, participants will enhance their senses, while being introduced to the habitat and wildlife around the trails. Wilton Wildlife educators will lead the walk that will focus on the butterflies and wildlife that live in the Saratoga Sand Plains. Registration is required at least one business day in advance and may be canceled if there is rain. BINGO: Knights of Columbus #246 hosts Bingo at the KOC Hall located at 50 Pine Rd. in Saratoga Springs, every Wednesday evening. The doors open at 4:30 pm, the kitchen window (which is staffed by the Catholic Daughters) opens at 5:30 pm, games go on sale at 6 pm., and the first game starts at 7 pm. Every week, there is $1,500 in guaranteed prize money. Join us for an evening out and help to support our activities within the community.

WALKING TOUR: Enjoy an easy walking tour of Hudson Crossing Park on Thursday, June 27, at 7:00 PM, led by Mike Bielkiewicz. Participants will meet at the pavilion for an introduction to the features of Hudson Crossing Park, upcoming programs, and an explanation of the meanings of “Crossing”. Next is a short walk to the Dix Bridge and then a tour of the Riverwalk Sensory Trail as we return to the parking lot. The program is hosted by the Old Saratoga Historical Association and is open to everyone. For more information call 518-495-7728. Hudson Crossing Park is located next to Champlain Canal Lock C5 on County Rt 42 just north of the Schuylerville Village line. Follow NY 4 north and turn right for the lock. Drive past the lock and the park parking is down the hill on the right.

HOMESCHOOL POPUP: At Moreau Lake State Park. Join an educator at the nature center for another homeschool pop-up with the topic of food chains in the wild. We will talk about how the order in which living things depend on each other to survive! This class is geared toward aged 6+ homeschool groups but is open to the public (siblings welcome). The class is $1 per child. SUNSET YOGA: The Town of Greenfield Recreation Department is adding exercise classes for its residents. The town is sponsoring outdoor “Sunset Yoga” at its Middle Grove Park, 428 Middle Grove Rd. Sunset Yoga is open to adults and costs $10 per person. Participants should dress warm, bring a blanket and a yoga mat. The program will be from 7-8 pm on May 21, June 6, June 13, June 20, and June 27.

LIBRARY COMMUNITY CONVERSATION: Members of the public are invited to Greenwich Free Library on Thursday June 27 from 5:30 – 7:00 pm for a Community Conversation about disability awareness, accessibility and inclusivity. The library has received a grant from Libraries Transforming Communities: Accessible Small and Rural Communities, an American Library Association (ALA) initiative that provides community engagement and accessibility resources to small and rural libraries to help them better serve people with disabilities. This conversation will help guide the library in its specific use of grant funds. This community conversation is open to patrons of all ages and abilities, and no registration is required. This six-hour course will be offered over two days: Thursday June 27 and Friday June 28 from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm each day. It will feature more than 20 vendors, rotating food trucks and weekly entertainment throughout its season from June 20-September 19. (Please note there will be no market on July 4.)

HOOKED ON NATURE: A fiber arts meetup at Wilton Wildlife Preserve & Park. Grab your yarn, needles, and lawn chairs and get outdoors into the fresh air with other fiber arts hobbyists! Share your love of nature with other crafters while working in a lovely natural setting. This twice-a-month meet-up will be taking place at Camp Saratoga on Scout Road in Wilton. This is a casual get-together for people to share their works-in-progress, in any fiber based medium. Materials will not be provided, but advice and guidance will be, by the other group attendees. The group will be meeting from 3:00 – 4:30 pm on the second and fourth Friday of the month. In the coming months, Hooked on Nature will be on July 12 and 26, and August 9 and 23. DYEING TO WEAVE PART 2: Join Cristen Knite, member of the Hudson-Mohawk Weavers Guild, for a presentation and a demonstration of weaving at the Brookside Museum.. Cristen will exhibit examples of her work, and guests will also be given a hands-on opportunity to try

WIGGLY WANDERERS: At Moreau Lake State Park, 9:30am. Wiggly Wanderers is a casual and fun program that is offered to walking toddlers, carriable babies and their caregivers. This will be a beginner’s hike/wander series for toddlers who are ready to move and caregivers who are willing and able to baby wear and/or carry their toddler if their legs get too tired. We will not plan too much distance walking and we will rely on teachable moments to carry us through these experiences. Strollers will not work for these programs. While you do not need to attend each week, we will continue to build our toddlers hiking skills as well as their caregivers’ confidence taking the children into the woods to explore. SENIORS POETRY OPEN MIC: 1pm at the Saratoga Senior Center, 290 West Avenue Saratoga Springs. RSVP by calling (518) 584-1621. LEAVE NO TRACE WORKSHOP: Wilton Wildlife Preserve & Park will be holding a Leave No Trace Workshop on June 29 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. In this workshop families will learn the seven principles of Leave No Trace through discussion and activities. Participants will then have the opportunity to use the principles they have learned on a nature trail walk! Olivia Hunt, one of Wilton Wildlife’s Environmental Educators, is a certified Leave No Trace instructor and she will lead this lively and engaging program. ART CLASS PART 1: The Village of Ballston Spa, its Committee on the Arts, and artists Ottavia Huang of Ms. Otter Studio and Maria DeAngelo of ArtyLadyMsD, proudly announce “Everyday Sketching: A Watercolor and Ink Class.” This three-session class seeks participants to foster a deeper connection with the world around them, celebrating the art of observation and expression through watercolor and ink. The three sessions will be held at the Ballston Spa Public Library, 21 Milton Ave, from noon to 3pm in the Community Room. Part 1 on June 29: Fundamentals of Sketching. Part 2 on July 6: Working with Watercolor and Ink. Part 3 on July 13: Capturing Everyday Scenes. This class is for all skill levels. SUNDAY STROLL: The Saratoga Springs Preservation Foundation is thrilled to announce the return of the Sunday Strolls. These historic walking tours will be offered every Sunday at 10:30am through August 25th in various neighborhoods throughout the city. Tours highlight the Gut neighborhood, mail-order houses on the east side, the diverse history of the historic West Side, mansions of North Broadway, and much more. The Summer Sunday Strolls historically sell out early, so do not wait to buy your tickets! On Sunday, June 30, George Demers will lead the tour “Historic West Side.” George will lead guests through the diverse West Side neighborhood where Saratoga Springs’ Irish and Italian immigrants and black community lived. This tour will meet at the entrance of the Gideon Putnam Burying Ground located on South Franklin Street. All Sunday morning tours last approximately 90 minutes and require walking and standing on varied terrain. Tours are limited to 30 and tickets must be purchased in advance. The cost per tour is $15 for SSPF members and $20 for non-members. Foundation members with stroll passes need to contact the Foundation’s office to book their Sunday Summer Stroll prior to the date of the stroll they chose. HISTORICAL PRESENTATION: A free program at the Saratoga National Historic Park in Stillwater. 2pm at the Visitor Center. Join us for a program called “Who Messed Up? Unraveling British plans to crush America’s Revolution in 1777.” The British had two major plans to crush the new United States in 1777 – one was to capture Philadelphia, and the other, Albany. The first succeeded brilliantly, while the other failed so spectacularly that it resulted in the first surrender of the British Army in world history. British politicians and generals pointed fingers and blamed each other for the spectacular surrender at Saratoga. So, who messed up? Was it King George? General Howe? General Burgoyne? You decide!

TRAIL STEWARD MEETING: At Moreau Lake State Park, 11am. A meeting to introduce the trail steward program to newcomers. The duties of a trail steward include walking the trails of Moreau Lake State Park to identify and report maintenance needs, light trail maintenance including cutting back branches with supplied hand saws and loppers and hanging trail signs when necessary. This meeting will provide crucial information on what to look for on the trails. Established trail stewards are welcome to come, but it is not mandatory. This meeting is free. ). WALKING IN NATURE: Summer is the perfect time of year to get into the healthy habit of walking outdoors. Twice a month on a Monday, people can connect with like-minded people and observe the beauty of nature at Wilton Wildlife Preserve & Park. The walks are geared towards gentle exercise and are appropriate for adults at basic fitness levels. The walks usually cover about 1.5 miles of trail. The walks all begin at 10:30 am, but each week will start from a different one of the park’s trailheads. The walks are led by one of Wilton Wildlife’s Environmental Educators. Future dates are July 15, and 29 and August 12 and 26. Registration is required at least one business day in advance. SARATOGA SPRINGS CITY COUNCIL MEETING: Saratoga Springs City Council meetings are regularly scheduled for 7 pm on the first and third Tuesday of every month at 474 Broadway in Saratoga Springs. ART CLASS PART 2: The Village of Ballston Spa, its Committee on the Arts, and artists Ottavia Huang of Ms. Otter Studio and Maria DeAngelo of ArtyLadyMsD, proudly announce “Everyday Sketching: A Watercolor and Ink Class.” This three-session class seeks participants to foster a deeper connection with the world around them, celebrating the art of observation and expression through watercolor and ink. TEEN/TWEEN ADVISORY GROUP: Ballston Spa Public Library is pleased to announce the formation of a Tween/ Teen Advisory Group (TAG). This new group is intended for students entering 6th grade through 10th grade. The group will meet on July 11th and 25th from 6pm-7pm and August 15th from 6pm-9pm. TAG gives middle and high school students the opportunity to develop leadership skills, brainstorm and help execute imaginative programs and recommend purchases for the library. The goal of the program is to provide a safe, welcoming and inclusive space for tweens and teens to have recreational opportunities as well as social and emotional support. WALKING IN NATURE: Summer is the perfect time of year to get into the healthy habit of walking outdoors. Twice a month on a Monday, people can connect with like-minded people and observe the beauty of nature at Wilton Wildlife Preserve & Park. The walks are geared towards gentle exercise and are appropriate for adults at basic fitness levels. The walks usually cover about 1.5 miles of trail. The walks all begin at 10:30 am, but each week will start from a different one of the park’s trailheads. The walks are led by one of Wilton Wildlife’s Environmental Educators. BUTTERFLY WALK: Wilton Wildlife is offering free walks on Wednesdays, starting on May 29 and continuing through July 31. The walks will take place weekly at 1:30 pm and leave from the parking area at Old Gick Farm on Route 50, which is just under 4 miles past Wilton Mall. The walks last about an hour and cover a mile of gently rolling terrain. The walks will not take place if there is rain. Registration is required at least one business day in advance. BINGO: Knights of Columbus #246 hosts Bingo at the KOC Hall located at 50 Pine Rd. in Saratoga Springs, every Wednesday evening. The doors open at 4:30 pm, the kitchen window (which is staffed by the Catholic Daughters) opens at 5:30 pm, games go on sale at 6 pm., and the first game starts at 7 pm. Every week, there is $1,500 in guaranteed prize money. Join us for an evening out and help to support our activities within the community.

TEEN/TWEEN ADVISORY GROUP: Ballston Spa Public Library is pleased to announce the formation of a Tween/ Teen Advisory Group (TAG). This new group is intended for students entering 6th grade through 10th grade. The group will meet on July 11th and 25th from 6pm-7pm and August 15th from 6pm-9pm. TAG gives middle and high school students the opportunity to develop leadership skills, brainstorm and help execute imaginative programs and recommend purchases for the library. The goal of the program is to provide a safe, welcoming and inclusive space for tweens and teens to have recreational opportunities as well as social and emotional support. Students should expect a meeting, snacks and activity. In addition, participants will receive community service for each session they attend.Registration is required for this group, limit 20. GREENFIELD FARMERS MARKET: The Town of Greenfield Recreation Department has revamped its Greenfield Farmers Market, which will be held Thursday evenings, 4-7 pm at Middle Grove Park, 428 Middle Grove Rd. It will feature more than 20 vendors, rotating food trucks, and weekly entertainment throughout its season from June 20-September 19. (Please note there will be no market on July 4.)

HOOKED ON NATURE: A fiber arts meetup at Wilton Wildlife Preserve & Park. Grab your yarn, needles, and lawn chairs and get outdoors into the fresh air with other fiber arts hobbyists! Share your love of nature with other crafters while working in a lovely natural setting. This twice-a-month meet-up will be taking place at Camp Saratoga on Scout Road in Wilton. This is a casual get-together for people to share their works-in-progress, in any fiber based medium. Materials will not be provided, but advice and guidance will be, by the other group attendees. The group will be meeting from 3:00 – 4:30 pm on the second and fourth Friday of the month. Next month, Hooked on Nature will be on August 9 and 23. RACING AND ROSE FASHION SHOW: At the National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame in Saratoga Springs. Join us for a fashion show and brunch party at the Museum featuring racing-inspired designs by Miss Scarlett Boutique’s Jen Marcellus. The Garden Ticket includes early arrival at 10:30 a.m. and a pre-party in the newly renovated Beautiful Pleasure East Garden. WALKING IN NATURE: Summer is the perfect time of year to get into the healthy habit of walking outdoors. Twice a month on a Monday, people can connect with like-minded people and observe the beauty of nature at Wilton Wildlife Preserve & Park. The walks are geared towards gentle exercise and are appropriate for adults at basic fitness levels. The walks usually cover about 1.5 miles of trail. The walks all begin at 10:30 am, but each week will start from a different one of the park’s trailheads. The walks are led by one of Wilton Wildlife’s Environmental Educators. Future dates are August 12 and 26. Registration is required at least one business day in advance. CAMP SARATOGA 5K TRAIL SERIES: The Camp Saratoga 5K Trail Series will be held at 6:15pm Monday evenings beginning July 29 and continuing August 5, 12, 19, & 26. Registration is $10 day-of or $40 paid by July 29 for all five races. Children ages 0-12 are free; 13-18 are half-price.
