Afghanistan beat Bangladesh by eight runs (DLS Method) in their Super Eight match in St Vincent on Tuesday to advance to the semifinals of the T20 World Cup 2024.

Chasing 114 runs in 19 overs after a rain delay, Bangladesh was skittled out for 105 runs with Rashid Khan and Naveen Ul Haq picking four wickets each.

In the first innings, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran gave a steady start to their side with a fourth fifty-run opening stand in this edition of the World Cup.

But their fall saw Afghanistan collapse from 59 for no loss to 93 for five. However, a late cameo from Rashid Khan (19* off 10) saw the side post a competitive 115.

Afghanistan will now take on South Africa in the first semifinal on June 27 in Trinidad.
