Aspen Historical Society/Cassatt Collection
“The circus is coming to town” announced The Aspen Times on June 30, 1977.
“The Clyde Brothers Circus will be at the Snowmass Rodeo Grounds for one day, Thursday, July 7 and there will be three shows: one at 1 pm, another at 6 pm, and the last show beginning at 9 pm. The circus is being sponsored by the Aspen Rotary Club and a club spokesman said that the circus will include a lion tamer, clowns, elephants, camels and llamas, high wire acts, a sword balancer, a unicycle act, trained gorillas and chimps, and trapeze artists.”
The funds raised from the circus were used to help provide scholarships to Aspen High School students at graduation.
