Flash Flood Warning issued for areas in Roaring Fork Valley

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Grand Junction has released a Flash Flood Warning in parts of the Roaring Fork Valley area until 8:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Some locations NWS named that will experience flash flooding include Carbondale, Basalt, El Jebel, and Emma.

NWS states to “Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.”

“The last couple days have been crazy with these storms,” said Tom Renwick, a NWS forecaster. “Overnight, it should be clearing out. But tomorrow could be more of the same. The moisture from Alberto will still be kind of hanging around. There’s another chance for those showers and storms, as far as flash flooding. It just depends on where the strongest cells sets up. Could be another interesting day for us.”
