Parijat Chakraborty
Parijat Chakraborty, Group Service Line Leader, Public Affairs, Corporate Reputation, CSR and Sustainability, Ipsos India, said, “The top rankers on trust in our annual survey of the Ipsos IndiaBus Most Trusted Institutions mapped on the perception of citizens are the defence forces, PM of country, the RBI, the Supreme Court of India and the Election Commission of India; emerging most trusted.
“All these institutions uphold the highest form of integrity, values and trustworthiness. Political Parties and politicians despite turning more accountable and serving the people, continue to be viewed with skepticism and adjudged least trustworthy.
“The survey shows, that for the perception to be shifted or to be clearly understood, building awareness around institutions is not only built overtime, but sustained with exemplary work and values,” Chakraborty said.
Interestingly, trust for defence forces was high among certain demographics and cities: in tier 1 cities (76%), north zone (72%), west zone (64%), 45+ age group (63%), part-time and full-time employed (62%) and SEC A (60%).
Trust for PM of Country was high among tier 1 citizens (70%), north zone (67%), west zone (62%), 45+ age group (56%), employed – part-time and full-time (54%) and low education (54%).
Methodology: Ipsos IndiaBus is a monthly pan India omnibus (which also runs multiple client surveys), that uses a structured questionnaire and is conducted by Ipsos India on diverse topics among 2200+ respondents from SEC A, B and C households, covering adults of both genders from all four zones in the country. The survey is conducted in metros, Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 towns, providing a more robust and representative view of urban Indians. The respondents were polled face-to-face and online. We have a city-level quota for each demographic segments that ensure the waves are identical and no additional sampling error. The data is weighted by demographics and city-class population to arrive at the national average.
