England vs South Africa Live Score, T20 World Cup 2024: Archer, Rashid restrict SA to 163/6 in Super Eight match

The Proteas have been restricted to the lowest first innings total at this venue in the tournament. After scoring 63 runs for no loss in the PowerPlay, South Africa would have definitely hoped for a better total. Quinton de Kock scored a brisk 65 and David Miller provided some late push with an unbeaten 43 off 28 balls. Can South Africa defend this? We will find out soon.

Another excellent catch, this time by Curran, and Marco Jansen is gone first-ball. Archer is on a hat-trick! FOUR! A single and then a brace off the following deliveries as Archer keeps it tight. Last ball is pace off and Stubbs has to settle for a single as he misses the pull. 

Curran to bowl the penultimate over. Cut away by Miller for a couple as Curran takes the pace off the ball. Full toss, and Miller fails to clear the square-leg boundary. Livingstone pulls off a good effort to keep the ball in for just a couple. SIX! In the slot, Miller gives himself room and launches this over long-off for a maximum. Fourteen runs from the over as Curran ends with 0/29 from his three overs. 

Archer bowls his third over. SIX! Much-needed intent from Miller. Length ball and Miller picks it up and deposits it over square-leg for half a dozen runs. Archer responds with a pace off bouncer and Miller can’t do anything about it. Lets it go. This is pulled away to deep midwicket for a single by Miller. Stubbs tries to go for a reverse-scoop but Archer follows him as the batter backs away outside leg-stump. 

Topley will bowl out. He mixes his variations to good effect and concedes just five runs, including a wide. 

Wood again. FOUR! Length ball and Miller pulls this through midwicket for a boundary. Full and driven to mid-off but straight to the fielder. Beaten! Angling away from the left-hander and Miller slashes and misses. FOUR! Short and Miller swivels and pulls this to the square-leg boundary after a couple of dot balls in a row. Driven to deep point by Miller for a single. FOUR! Drifting down leg-side and Stubbs flicks this fine and past the wicketkeeper to collect a boundary. 

Rashid bowls his last over. FOUR! Miller brings out his reverse-sweep and finds the boundary at point. OUT! Markram is cleaned bowled and South Africa loses its captain. Tossed up by Rashid and Markram ended up dragging this onto his stumps. Tristan Stubbs is off the mark with a single first ball. A single for Miller to end the over and Rashid bowls out with excellent figures of 4/20 from his four overs.

Mark Wood bowls his first over. Miller starts off with a single through the off-side. Going down leg-side and the ball clips Klaasen’s thigh pad and good stop by Buttler behind the stumps. This is short and going down leg-side. Called wide. That’s 100 up for SA in 13.2 overs. 

OUT! Klaasen is run out by a fantastic direct-hit from Buttler at the bowler’s end. It was a bouncer that sailed over Klaasen’s head and Miller called for a single as Buttler didn’t collect it cleanly initially. But then he turned around and produced a fantastic run out. FOUR! Miller gets an outside edge and this runs away to the boundary. 

Curran returns. FOUR! Full and hammered through mid-off by Klaasen and he gets his first boundary. Klaasen shuffles across his stumps to flick this on leg-side but misses. Appeal from Curran but not given and Buttler goes upstairs. Wickets is umpire’s call as the ball would have just clipped the middle-stump. But England retains the review. Outside edge now from Miller and goes to short-third on the bounce. Flicked through square-leg by Miller for a single and he gets off the mark. Just six runs from the over. 

Archer returns after a 21-run first over. He starts with a very wide full toss outside off and he will need to bowl that again. Archer now decides to bowl into the pitch, rather than overpitching, as he did in his first over. Just two runs from the first three balls. Slow full toss on the pads to Klaasen and he flicks it away for just a single. OUT! Pace off, short, and De Kock gets an outside edge trying to cut this over short-third. Unbelievable catch by Buttler behind the stumps, as he leaps high to his left to grab this one. Both openers now back in the hut. David Miller is greeted with a bouncer and he ducks under it.

Rashid continues after the break. Right on the money from the leg-spinner. He maintains a tight line on the stumps and just two singles come from the over. 

Moeen will continue. FOUR! Tossed up outside off and De Kock confidently advances down the track and lofts it over cover for a boundary. OUT! Hendricks skies this high in the air and taken at long-on. He stepped out to hit this down the ground but never got to the pitch of the ball, and his bottom hand too came off. Heinrich Klaasen is the new man in. Time for Drinks Break!

Rashid again. De Kock slog sweeps as this is pitched outsisde-leg and he finds the fine-leg fielder. The umpires will check if that was taken cleanly. Oh! It looks like Mark Wood may have grassed that one. And given NOT OUT by the TV umpire! De Kock survives. Buttler isn’t happy and has a word with the umpires. But the decision obviously stands. Just five runs from the over. 

Moeen comes back for his second over. A couple of twos for De Kock as he realises it’s about time for some more acceleration. Just six runs from the over. 

De Kock brings up his fifty off 22 balls. The fastest of this tournament. But just six runs from the Adil Rashid over. 

Here comes Sam Curran with the ball. Width outside off and cut away by De Kock for three runs. Liam Livingstone with an awkward effort in the deep to save the boundary. Curran comes around the wicket to Hendricks. He collects a leg-bye as Curran strays on the pads. SIX! Short and pulled away by De Kock for another maximum. He is looking in ominous form today. 

FOUR! Topley continues and De Kock guides this behind point for a boundary. Tapped on the off-side next ball for a single. Going down leg-side and called a wide. Pushed to cover by Hendricks for another single. Full ball and flicked through midwicket by De Kock for one more. Fifty up for SA in 4.5 overs with a single. Jofra Archer into the attack. De Kock gets an inside edge and the ball thuds into his upper thigh. He looks in some discomfort. SIX! And he responds with his trademark pick-up shot. Good length ball, too straight and this sails over fine-leg for a maximum. SIX! Too full and De Kock clears his front leg and hammers this over deep midwicket for another maximum. FOUR! Short now and De Kock cuts this over short third for another boundary. Cutter from Archer and De Kock punches this on the off-side for a quick single. FOUR! Short again and pulled away with disdain by Hendricks to the midwicket boundary.
