Istari Digital, a leader in digital transformation, has been awarded a significant $15 million AFWERX contract for its pioneering “Model One” initiative. This groundbreaking program aims to integrate models and simulations across the Air Force, addressing critical challenges in modern warfare shaped by digital connectivity.
Dr. Will Roper, Founder, President & CEO of Istari Digital, emphasized the transformative potential of digital technologies in defense. “Digital transformation is revolutionizing industries worldwide, but Defense faces unique hurdles with intellectual property and classified data,” stated Dr. Roper. “Our latest contract underscores our commitment to advancing data-meshing solutions, enabling secure, real-time collaboration across diverse data types.”
Already recognized for its innovative platform used in the Flyer Øne program, which aims to digitally certify the world’s first airplane, Istari Digital is pioneering advancements crucial for future military operations. The “Model One” initiative aligns with the U.S. military’s strategic goals of enhancing battlefield decision-making through advanced simulations and digital twins.
Eric Schmidt, former CEO of Google, highlighted the significance of integrating diverse models and simulations in digital environments. “Model One represents an exciting opportunity for Istari Digital to pave the way for virtual military capabilities and shape future industries,” remarked Schmidt.
Supported by the Air Force Research Laboratory and AFWERX, the contract signifies a streamlined approach to fostering innovation through Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs. This initiative aims to accelerate proposal timelines, expand opportunities for small businesses, and drive impactful advancements in national defense capabilities.
